Thank you, Hope, for writing a book that answers these questions and, most importantly, reassures me that I am *allowed* to still find myself grieving. Nothing therapists, my dad, my close family, or my best friends have ever said has convinced me, in the way that this book has, that it is *normal* for me to find that the loss of my mother was deep, profound, and life-altering. And it's finally OK for me to admit that.
Again, it's a very personal thing, and I truly believe that it's a valid book, but everyone's experiences/needs are different.
Motherless Daughters talks about how other women just like me fear the age their mother died. Without this book I would never have guessed that other women felt the way I do. This is only the most recent thing that this book has helped me deal with. It has helped me deal with so many things over the past years. I know this book will continue to stay on my bedside table till the day my daughter becomes a Motherless Daughter, if that be next month, next year or 50-yrs from now. I will forever be a Motherless Daughter. The loss of my mother is something that will affect me for the rest of my life but with this book I know I'm not the only person to have the many emotion, fears and feeling that it has caused. I will never get over the loss of my mother; I adjusted my life and take it one day at a time.
I have a friend who just lost her mother and I'm not only going to tell her about this book, I'm going to buy her a copy. I would like to thank Hope Edelman for all the women, including me that she has helped with this book - Thank You Hope Edelman
