I can't believe how well this stuff works. I used it to polish some copper and aluminum that i had sanded down and was foggy, and it was polished in basically seconds. after like a minute of polishing it just gave them basically a perfect mirror finish

But i don't know whats going on with the cap. It seems like its supposed to screw on and off, but i cannot get it to screw on or off, i had to basically pop it off, and then to put it back on again, after trying for literally like 5 minutes, i just pressed it down hard and it clicked on, but was only like halfway on. i still can't figure out how to shut it all the way, but its ok, the product is absolutely amazing

I have used Mothers many, many times in the past and will continue to use it. I gave this one a 5-star rating for the quality of the material. I gave it a ONE STAR rating on the "easy to remove" rating section. I did that because in all my life, I have NEVER, EVER had such a hard time removing a top from any type of container, that I have with this 10 oz. container of Mothers!! And once I got it off, it's phenomenally hard to get it back on again! WHAT??????
I mean, this is not rocket science. The container is about 3-3 1/2" in diameter and the lid is only slightly larger. Something went radically wrong when fabricating the lid, at least for this container. I have no idea if others that have purchased from the same lot are having the same issue(s). I mean, no matter what approach I take, trying to line up the one single thread to start screwing it on and, nope, it ain't going. I have tried and tried to replace the lid, ain't happening. Never, ever seen anything like this.
As stated, Mothers is a great product and I have used a tiny bit of it to make sure this batch is the same quality and so far, it tests great. So, with all this being said, I won't be sending this back because of some odd glitch with a top that won't go back on. The product is good. It's the container that's screwed up. Soooo, I'll just find another container and I'll be happy. I think a 10 oz chocolate frosting container that I'm just about done with will work just great. We'll see.

This polish can be used for many things outside the advertised use cases but be mindful that results may vary.

For metal it is excellent and you can use it for softer metals than steel as well. Works well with tarnished jewelry as well.

A little goes a long way, do not use too much. Micro fiber works best with this in my experience. Black means you're removing oxidation and dirt, exposing clean polished metal so keep going!

I would refrain from using on car paint but it can actually work quite well (albeit a bit aggressive). If used on paint or plastic especially, wash well with oil and wax stripping soap and a clean non abrasive micro fiber towel to remove any residue.

I tried so many things to get my daughters headlights cleaned. Nothing worked or out was a temporary fix.
My friend suggested this, so I figured this was my last try.
It is absolutely amazing! So simple to use, even for us gals.
Just rub it all over let it sit for a minute and start buffing your light with a rag. To make it extra nice, buff it again at the end with a different clean rag. I'm so happy!

Back in the 1980's when I was a kid my friends and I used to use Mothers mag and aluminum polish to shine the chrome on our bmx bikes. I just bought a watch and part of it is polished shiny stainless steel and other parts of the watch band is just brushed not polished and shiny. So I bought this and tried it on a couple spots of the watch band to see if it would make a difference on the brushed stainless steel parts of the watch band to make it polished like the other part. No difference. The main thing is the chemical smell. I used some clorox bleach wipes to try to wipe it down to remove the Mothers mag stuff and remove the chemical smell. I think I got off but i would not recommend it for watches or jewelry because of the chemical smell. But it's good stuff I know it works. I used to use it on my bmx bikes back in the 1980's.

Defective packaging and does not work well on headlights without electrical polisher

The top of this soft plastic jar does not unscrew--I had to compress the jar, bend the top and pop it off, smushing the label in the process. The same thing happened screwing it back on. After several minutes I figured out how to pop it back on so product does not go dry. This is okay for shop work where it will be used quickly but not for home headlight polishing as I was seduced by several videos on the world's most popular video site to believe that it would ( and they provided links to Amazon to buy it). With a lot of elbow grease we improved the transparency of the headlights--skipping the calcified plastic over the colored side reflectors--but the results were nothing like what the videos promised.

Dec 30 2023 Update: The defective lid was a temporary problem due to a subcontractor error. Mother's replaced the tub with one that has a properly functioning lid. The correct product for the headlight lens is Mother's Nu Lens which cleaned up both the center light and the badly corroded plastic over the colored side reflectors.
