The first book in the Lou Mason series. Lou Mason is a lawyer. He is on retreat that the practice has paid for where he is ask to ID his bosses body. From there the book takes off and has to pulled in and you wont stop reading until you are at the end of the book. I liked Mason wit and his smart mouth. I am going to read the rest of the book in the series.

I really enjoyed reading this murder-mystery. It was very interesting and the entire story line was pieced together very nicely. The conflicts along with the action/drama that they created were fun to read and did not disappoint. This "whodunit" isn't cheesy or easy to solve, and the characters have traits that are believable, making it easy for the reader to get a sense of the type of person that the author is trying to portray. All in all, I liked it, it's a great book. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Lou Mason is a fictional lawyer to keep your eye on:

I enjoyed Motion to Kill. For me it was a slow starter, with Lou's diffidence and a large cast to keep track of. But those characters soon became suspects, allies, foes and loopholes to keep me guessing. This isn't a book filled with courtroom drama. Lou plays more of a detective, and the action is in the street, the cabin and the boardroom. I'll be watching for several of the characters to make appearances in future volumes, with a central role for Blues, Native American ex-cop, ace piano player, and a good man to have your back.

Excellent Book. Not so much a legal Thriller as a Thriller with many key characters that are attorneys. This book gets right to the action at the start and never shows down, the story line is believable and the characters all fill real. This one is well worth the reading.

The plot was well developed as were the characters. A bit complicated at times, but probably due to short reading segments.

Mr. Goldman is a new author for me. I enjoyed this book a lot but, once again, I felt like an observer in a murder mystery rather than a participant. I wish I could find a mystery where I could be fed information along with the hero and reach the same conclusions when s/he does.

Aren't there any mysteries like that out there? This felt like more of an action adventure with a mystery, but Lou held all the information, especially at the end with the bible.

It was well written, with good characters and an interesting plot, but I want engaged.

It took me an extra long amount of time to read this as I had to keep putting it down. It was moving sooo slow and was hard to remain attentive. While I did enjoy about the last 25% of the book and will probablly purchase the 2nd in the series, I'll go into it a little wary. I found this to be a good story over all, well written, well thought out, well researched, but like I said, it was slow. It didn't suck me in to a "must read" mindset.

Very hard to figure out who done it. :) This is the first book in a long time that I didn't have it all figured out before the end of the book.

Goldman knows how to write with plenty of action, suspense, humor and even a bit of romance. His characters are so real and very entertaining. Excellent read!

Glad I'm done with this book! The ratings were good so that is one of the reasons I picked it. The second one was because it was called a thriller. It did not live up to either in my opinion. Way to many people to keep track of in a large law firm and if an unknown person or persons have killed two people then all cop shows on tv would called "thrillers" so no it was not a thriller.
