I've read just about all of the current and older thrillers and author's series, and kudos for this book just AMAZE me because they are unearned. This book does not deliver enjoyment and was tedious because it was NOT well written.

Not only did it not have flow in each chapter, but many paragraphs were equally awkward. To successfully proceed, the reader must work hard instead of enjoyably. The writing was without merit and the decisions about WHAT was important detail were off kilter. What Goldman chose to elaborate definitely did not make for an interesting read and did not advance the reader.
This book wallowed in the uninteresting!

Great mystery with so much feeling! The plot was wonderful and action packed. Emotional with deep and heart felt transitions. Romance, murder, and human twisted psyche prevalent......

A page turner with a sense of humor! When you think you know where the story is going, you are surprised when you get there. Then something else happens!

I am reading the series, while the stories have some continuity they could be read a lone. Not quite 5 star level but fair.

The senior partners at Lou Mason's new law firm are dropping like flies. What's an ambulance chaser to do?

This is a most enjoyable first novel. The plots skips along nicely. The characters are pretty strong. There are times, however, when it's difficult to tell some of the women who work at the firm apart in the early going.

Yet, it's Lou Mason who makes this book worth reading. He's smart as heck, attractive to women in a believable way, and he's funny. When faced with death, he handles it like a smart attorney would: by cajoling the facts out of people. He also grows a spine when faced with danger.

An astute reader may put together most of the the puzzle before our hero does, but the fun is in the journey.

Will definitely read the rest of this series.

This book was Okay. There are numerous and intriguing tentacles that weave through the story that keep the reader wondering who is doing what to who, but I felt the author could have done a better job enriching these story lines as well as character development.

The plot had potential. The writing erased that potential. The characters were unbelievable. Their actions were unrealistic and often silly. The dialogue was worse. I hated the banter and silly dialogue of Lou Mason. I like mysteries where plots are reveal in actions and direct observations. In this novel long, boring explanations were used. This is not a good read. I almost put the book down several times. Unfortunately I did not.

This story keeps the reader engaged from the first page. No drag marks from pedantic passages. Interesting and full bodied characters along with riveting action hits the bullseye!

I read alot, and decided I should read all four books in this series although the reviews were not that good one the first. The reviewers were right--the book is somewhat shallow, and the main character Lou Mason is also. I did want to read it to the end, so I can say I was entertained. (PS I have a pet peeve about authors who want to get in a jab to one political party or the other. There is no doubt about this author's political leaning.)
