Daverat's Wife speaking (forgive my typos, please, I have Rheumatoid Arthritis) As many lines for African-American Women are trying to reach new audiences, their advertising will often say "For all Hair Types" in their descriptions. While it is, in fact, TRUE that their products CAN be used by all hair types, not all people with thinner or naturally straighter hair will be familiar with both the purpose of such a product and how much of it to apply which is why you will see some angry or bad reviews here from Users who tried this very nourishing, natural Marula Oil spray and found they had over-applied the product only to wind up with greasy hair. I have what has been called "Ethnic hair" which frizzes easily and if left to its own, will loc up into long spirals that are hard to disentangle. Since my hair is waist length, my thirsty waves are the perfect hair for just about any product originally marketed to Women of Color. However, my husband, who is of English and Scandanavian descent, has fine curly hair and he can use these products too, just much more sparingly. Remember when you see something saying "For all hair types" but see photos showing women of color in the ads, that if you have baby fine hair that is straight as can be, you will need to experiment by using much less at first until you find the correct amount to gain some moisture or shine benefit. If you just spray the stuff on as directed, you may wind up looking like Fonzie on a saturday night!

That said, Marula Oil in the new Motions Natural Therapy Hair & Scalp Oil Spray has a long history of use by Native Tsonga peoples of South Africa and Mozambique, both as a body and hair moisturizer and in cooking. The oil comes from the nut of the Marula tree whose species is known as "Sclerocarya birrea".

Size: 8 oz Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
The product description in Vine said this product was designed for all hair types. It is not. It is designed primarily for African American women. I don't have issues with a dry scalp. My problem is that my hair is so long (all the way down my back) and heavy that it gets brittle on the ends and breaks. Having used a lot of different hair treatments and none of them working, I figured there was nothing to lose trying this one even if it wasn't primarily designed for white women.

It works. I first used it as a mist on dry hair while getting ready for work in the morning. I was initially concerned because after brushing my hair it looked oily and I was afraid I would have to jump in the shower and wash it out. But after about fifteen minutes it had absorbed in and my hair looked healthy and shiny, not oily, and no obvious frizzing. The second time I used it after washing my hair and used a heavier mist concentration. When I woke up in the morning, I was surprised at how soft my hair felt.

Recommendations: I don't use this daily, but every other day. Once a week I use it after washing my hair and letting it absorb overnight. But the rest of the time I use it as a very light mist in the morning before leaving for work. This seems to be a good balance for my hair type (thick, long, straight). I also don't use it on my scalp, but instead focus on the lower end of my hair where the most damage seems to occur.

This is a product that works, but you may have to adjust the usage based on your own hair's needs and not necessarily follow the instructions on the packaging.

I gave this hair oil one star for the nice scent, however the ingredient list is scary. I've used about a third of the bottle, using it as a treatment oil before shampooing, but have since poured the rest out. The few natural ingredients are nice, but the others are absolutely horrible for your skin, scalp. I wondered how the price was so low, that's how, just a miniscule of good ingredients and mostly fillers that artificially boost your hair. I'd rather spend the same price on a 4 oz bottle of pure Marula Oil, add some sweet almond oil, emu oil, and a few essential oils that are good for your hair and scalp like rosemary, lavender. geranium. I especially do not want propylene glycol on my skin, or methylparabens. Yuck. Change the formula.

This product review of the Motion Salon Haircare Marula Natural Therapy Hair and Scalp Oil is part of my obligation to Amazon for accepting to be a member of the Vine program, a club of selected customers that provide opinions about "new and pre-released items." We enter this club by accepting free copies of products but we promise in return to submit an opinion.

This product is excellent. The description on the back reads that "it will give your scalp an extra moisturing boost using an oil that infuses the hair with anti-oxidant-rich, naturally derived Marula oil that replenishes moisture and restores pliability.

Well, I washed my hair as usual and applied a mist throughout my scalp and went on to style as usual and the results were excellent for the hair felt soft and resisted the humidity of South Florida, keeping the style throughout the day.

The extracts of chamomile and lavender provided a certain shine as promised, but the key was that the hair smelled great, in fact, several comments were received by people asking what had I done that was different.

Would highly recommend this product if you undergo hair drying on a daily basis as my hair looked great all day.
