Last weekend I took mine out of the box. Pressured it to 10psi with air to test it. It held. Loaded it with DOT 4 brake fluid I use in a car I race and BAM....springs a leak under pressure at where the rubber line connects to power bleeder (plastic bottle). This is held on by a clamp fitting that's a one time use and obviously with time it weakens the line.
I have thoroughly cleaned my unit after each use and packed it well.
Too pricey to have to replace every few years when it's used maybe once a year or so.
Disappointing....had to let others know.
It can be used "dry" without filling with brake fluid, so you don't have to clean it out after use. But if used this way, you have to make sure to watch the side of the clear brake fluid reservoir and keep the brake fluid topped up. (Otherwise more air can get in the system and you have to bleed even more, and add a lot more fluid.) Using it dry requires periodically depressurizing the unit by unscrewing the cap (on the pressure bottle, not the brake reservoir), so you can keep the reservoir topped up. Or depressurize it by using a quick release air-hose fitting (with 1/4" NPT male/female fittings) between the two brass fittings that come installed the middle of the hose. You can get a quick release and adapter fittings at auto parts and hardware stores. Wrap the threads on all the fittings with Teflon plumber's tape to avoid air leaks. See the other reviews of the similar Motive Products bleeders for more info on using the bleeder this way.
The newer models of this bleeder come with a small brake bleeder hose to attach to the caliper bleeder screw, two flat cap gaskets for the bleeder cap, and an extra regular reservoir cap (I guess in case you misplace yours while bleeding.) The newer models also have a male/female 1/4" brass NPT coupling in the middle of the hose to allow using different reservoir cap/hose adapters for different cars. Most of the vendors also have the different adapters available.
Be aware however, that the cap with this Chrysler model bleeder may not fit some of the 1993-1998 First Generation Chrysler LH platform cars. This includes the Dodge Intrepid, Eagle Vision, and Chrysler Concord, New Yorker and LHS. I don't know if it works on the Second Generation LH models. The cap that comes with this bleeder is about 1-7/8" outside diameter, and has three locking tabs. Some of the Chysler LH cars have a larger diameter 3-tab cap.
Since there are so many size master cylinder caps, Motive Products does not make adapters for all cars. (A table is available on the web site.) They do have an option on their web site store to send them an OEM master cylinder cap (order it from a car dealer's parts department), and they will make you an a hose/cap assembly that will work. Then you can order only the pressure bleeder tank alone from Motive Products for less than the cost of a whole unit.
They do sell a "universal" unit that clamps on to the master cylinder, but these don't seal very well.
This was the Chrysler specific model. Works with any Chrysler/Jeep reservoir with a three tab cap.
If you use it often you might consider the 'premium' model with a billet aluminum reservoir cap.
