After reading about these guys in a rock/metal magazine, I decided to give this band a try. They sounded like something I'd like. So, I picked up Motograter's self-titled album a few days ago. What were the results? I was very, VERY pleased with the overall product. Not a single cent was wasted on the purchase of this exciting and thrilling album that gives you great heavy music with an edge.
What do the boys sound like? Think of Mudvayne, Slipknot, Mushroomhead, and Disturbed. That should give you a pretty good impression of their sound. Now, don't get the wrong idea and think they are rip offs of all of the bands mentioned. Not at all. In fact, I think they do a great job of constructing their own sound and look. Comparisons are always going to be made, but they show that they are able to come up with their own music that leaves a very big impression on you.
The band does a great job of balancing the yelling and singing. This is one of the great ways that they keep all of the songs fresh and avoid sounding redundant or tiring. The guitar and drum playing really stands out, too. They know when to cut back and when to go in full force. The overall product is great and heavy music.
There are actually only 11 songs on the album (I'm not sure if there's a hidden track/song, so I will have to look into that). The other half of the album are short intros to each songs. You'll notice that the intros are titled the same way as the real songs, except backwards. They give you a good lead into the songs and do not overstay their welcome. While all of the songs are great, my favorites are "suffocate," "down," "wrong," "fight," "collapse," and "prophecies.

After seeing this band at Ozzfest in Mtn. View, California, I was convinced that purchasing their album would be a good idea. I had previously downloaded the tracks "Down" and "Suffocate" (which are both included on the album), and I was pleasantly surprised. The lead singer, Ghost, came on stage looking like Satan's stunt double, screaming like a banshee on steroids. If you're up and ready for a more than decent nu-metal album, get Motograter. My personal favorite tracks are "Down" and "Wrong". Check out Motograter at Ozzfest in your city, but in the meantime, just listen to this album... You will NOT be disappointed. Trust me.

Motograter is one of the few "Nu-Metal" bands that I enjoy listening to. The reasons why they intrigued me are that they have 2 drummers (1 who switches between drums and keyboards) and they had invented their own instrument, the Motograter. My first listen was when I downloaded Suffocate and Down, having no clue what they sounded like. (I don't listen to the radio so I didn't realize these were the singles.) The guitars here are standard Nu-metal, with just being heavy and no solos. While there is no Bass Credited, (and there clearly is) I believe the guitarist Nuke (who left after recording) played both. It wasn't until afterwards that they got a Bass Player.

It's the Drums that are the best part of Motograter. I enjoy listening to anything with multiple drummers, or odd instruments, so this was, as the saying goes, killing 2 birds with 1 stone. The Problem that people might have with listening to the album is that it's hard to determine just what the Motograter sounds like. It's made of cables, gears, metal, chains and is played with one drum stick while the other hand moves the cables. Kind of like a Drum guitar combo set because it has notes. And you don't get a good look at what it looks like either. Look on the internet and you will see better pictures.

The vocalist has a good range and I've read somewhere that he is a failed Priest. He manages to pull off the alternation of singing and screaming. He also writes good lyrics. The song No Name is about how people like Mozart are buried with no name. Mozart, I believe is actually buried under a gas station right now.

As for the songs presented here on the Album; they're great. I can listen all the way through without pushing the skip button.

I had never once heard of these guys until I was checking out the bonus material on the newly released Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie with Jessica Biel's fine ass. But I just happened to run across a music video on the bonus material by a band called Motograter and it was there song "Suffocate" so i was like what the hell and hit play. I must have played that song and Video for hours. I then decided on a blind whim to go to Circuit City and see if by chance i could find it. Much to my amazement I did. They had one copy so i bought it for 6.99. Who can go wrong with a 7 dollar cd in all honesty? Well not a single cent of this 7 dollars that i spend was a waste. Here it is 2005 and im ready for a new release, but on the same token by no stretch of the imagination did this cd get old or boring for the 2 years I have owned it. This is one of the best blind buys I think I have ever made.

For i'm sure the many of you that have no idea of this band and have no knowledge of them and are reading both my reviews as the others on here. Go out and pick this up. I guarentee you if you like your stuff hard and heavy you will LOVE this band as much as i do.

GO OUT AND SUPPORT THESE GUYS THEY ARE AMAZING!!!!!!!!

MUCH THANKS TO YOU CIRCUIT CITY!!!!
