Motorcraft filters are engineered to the high quality standards of the Ford Motor Company and are recommended by Ford as the original equipment replacement filter for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles. They are designed to help protect against engine wear by screening out abrasives, such as carbon, sand, dust and bits of metal before they can get into your oil. Pressure-relief valves help minimize the chance of contaminated oil circulating back into the engine and also help maintain the supply of oil to the engine under extreme cold conditions or if the filter gets clogged. The outer casings are constructed of steel, “ironed” for a precise fit, painted to resist rust and include flutings to ease removal. The efficient filter media offers increased dirt-collecting capability and ability to capture more engine-harming particles. Silicone anti-drain back valves help prevent oil from draining out of the filter and engine when the engine is not running and resist the aging effects that an engine’s high heat can cause.

These filters are NOT "Motorcraft" filters! They are bootleg Chinese made. I found out the hard way. Do your homework. Look up "Counterfeit Motocraft Parts" and you'll get a tutorial on how to spot a fake. I bought one of these because the price was so good. TOO good actually. China is making bogus spark plugs, oil filters, coils and coil packs, etc...

I always used M1 oil filters, however my source for them at a reasonable price dried up, and I didn't want to pay $10 a filter. Purolators, Fram always have had sub par reviews, and These always had a good reputation, so I tried one. Cut it open with an exhaust pipe cutter after 4k miles or so, and the element was torn. Not sure if it was on the glue line or next to it. But torn top to bottom, meaning not much filtering going on. I also tried an ecoguard, which is super cheap. It has a nice thick case, and looked good inside, no torn pleats, and the filter cannister wasn't sucked in or blown out. So I am going with the ecoguards, but cutting them open after each use. If their quality goes away, then who knows...

It's factory replacement stuff, what's not to like?

I always buy factory replacement parts when I can. I learned a long time ago from my mechanic/friend that even in applications where you think it won't make a difference, it will. For Example, factory brake pads make the brake pedal feel more responsive, and behave like when the vehicle was new. Also learned that something as a small as a PCV valve should be a factory one because the pressure in the valve is different that an aftermarket one and makes the vehicle run properly. For the price, it just makes good sense. Highly recommended.

Bought this for a 2015 Ford Fusion with a 2.0l Ecoboost engine.

Due to the price of this filter, I was skeptical due to the scourge of counterfeit Motorcraft/Ford parts on Amazon. However, it said it was sold "by Motorcraft" on the product page so I figured it had to be legit. If it is, the quality control is atrocious. When I went to install the filter, I started it about 3 turns by hand and it went on nice and easy. I then started using my short handled ratchet and filter socket (choked all the way up on the handle) to speed up the process and to get my hand away from the still hot engine. As I continued to turn I started to encounter some resistance on the threads. I immediately stopped and backed it off but the damage was already done to the fine aluminum threads. I had a 3/4 - 16 tap and I was only able to get the tap about halfway into the filter's threads before it felt like it began to cut. It continued to have resistance all of the way to the bottom of the threads. So, essentially, the thread form was bad from the factory and it ruined my oil filter adapter that the filter threads onto. So, now I'm stuck with a car on ramps while I wait for a new oil filter adapter and gasket that ran me $50 from Ford.

A bit of advice, don't buy this filter or else trying to save a few dollars can end up costing you ten times that or more.

A made in USA OEM part but without the box

I like that I can get an OEM filter from Amazon for a good price, and that this filter unlike some other Motorcraft filters is still made in the USA, but I don't like the fact that it is shown in the OEM box but comes without one). (And I did purchase this from Amazon.com and not one of their marketplace sellers).

In the future I will choose to purchase this filter from a certain big-box retailer that I have since found has it for the same price - in the OEM box.

After reading a review that stated these filters were fake rip-offs I decided to buy one and take it apart. From the looks of it, these are legit Motorcraft parts, not knock-offs. I bought the FL-910S. I did look up on the internet and on the Motorcraft website and these don't appear to be counterfeit Motorcraft parts. The price is normal compared to buying it at the store.

A pretty basic item. It comes in a cardboard box as depicted, it is not plastic wrapped but they never are.

Looks good! Cheap, and made for conventional, blend or full synthetic oil.

It even had directions for an oil change on the little tab inside. A nice little thing for a rookie car mechanic.

It's a genuine and recommended Ford product. It may not be made in USA every time but it's for an American brand.

I was always having oil and filter changes done at the dealership. The last service wasn't overly great - the price has increased significantly (even though the Ford website suggests otherwise) so I now have trust issues since it appears this particular dealership has switched their model to focus more on up-sells rather than customer satisfaction, retention etc.

Hence, decided to do my own oil and filter changes. The whole process was a breeze after watching a single video on YouTube. Bought the ramps, already had pertinent other tools. And was done in under 30 min. (most of which is needed to drain the oil).

This filter is a genuine Ford filter, and fits perfectly for Ford Fusion 2011 SE. Didn't need any special tools for removing the old one and putting the new one in.

Next purchase: Fumoto or EZ drain to make the whole process even simpler.

Lastly, VERY impressed by the range of parts on Amazon. And the prices are very competitive. Thanks!
