When to Expect Your First Issue: Magazine subscriptions ordered at Amazon.com are shipped to you by the magazine's publisher. The first issue of a weekly magazine should arrive within 4-6 weeks of your order. The first issue of a monthly magazine should arrive within 4-6 weeks, unless otherwise noted.

Once you've placed an order at Amazon.com, it can take one to two weeks for your subscription to be received and scheduled by the publisher. Your subscription is then added to the publisher's next production cycle and shipped via standard mail. For example, if your monthly subscription was ordered and received by the publisher in November, and the December issue has already shipped, your order may be added to the January mailing. You can find out more information, including how to contact the publisher about your subscription, in Amazon's Magazine Subscription Manager.

Renewing Your Subscription: If you are ordering as a renewal to the same name and address as the current subscription, the publisher will add the Amazon order to your current subscription. Amazon.com Review

Motorcycle Consumer News magazine is one of the top magazines for motorcycle lovers. Unlike other publications that use articles from any writer, this magazine only publishes pieces written by motorcycle enthusiasts, and the experience of those writers oozes off every page. Whether it's tips for riding around town or information on top destinations for motorcycle riders, every issue focuses on bikers.

Safety is an important component of riding, and each issue of Motorcycle Consumer News magazine focuses on staying safe. Proficient Motorcycling gives you tips on how to improve your performance, while Mental Motorcycling deals with ways to change your thought process while on your bike. The magazine even has a Medical Motorcycling section that discusses medical issues that can arise as the result of long-term riding, and what you can do to prevent those conditions.

Motorcycle Consumers News magazine lists the newest recall notices from manufacturers in its MC Bulletins section, which also highlights the hottest news stories in the industry. You will even find a Cycle Attorney section that answers questions from readers on safety and legal issues on the road, and some readers will page through to the What's Happening section to get information on riding tours and other motorcycling events. You can also read uplifting feature stories from riders and find reviews from experts on the latest motorcycle equipment, gear, and tools.

A subscription to Motorcycle Consumer News magazine helps you stay safe, discover answers to your motorcyling questions, and get information on recalls.

5.0 out of 5 stars The one essential moto mag March 17, 2008
Subscription Term Name:2 years|Verified Purchase
I get 6 moto magazines a month. I read them all but MCNews is the only one I bother keeping after I'm done reading it. It's the only one that does full tests on oils, cleaning products, jackets, intercoms, etc etc. Other magazines pretend to review gear but in most cases they read like press releases.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best out there June 28, 2009
By Louis
Subscription Term Name:1 year
I have subscribed to this mag since 1997 and strongly consider it the best motorcycle magazine available. There are also some great mags available from the UK, but they are very expensive. The domestic mags (you know, the ones with all the ad's) are good for one read (at that) and then get quickly recycled. I keep every copy of this one, as they have information you may want to reference at a later time. Their road tests of new bikes are very informative and compared to other reviews (magazine or on-line) they write the hard truth and give me (the consumer) information to help decide what to buy. The other motorcycle magazines are only interested in pleasing their masters. (motorcycle and moto-gear manufacturers who advertise in their rags and expect gentle reviews of their product) No offense, but if you are young and mostly interested in the latest 600cc sportbike camparo with glossy photos, you might want to stick with the others. This is a magazine that has appeal for adults. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Gold Standard For Riders EVERYWHERE August 7, 2013
Subscription Term Name:2 years|Verified Purchase
It is a cruel irony that I want to subscribe to this since it's first issue. But I was too cheap, and refused to shell out the money for it. I found myself unexpectedly disabled/crippled (I am not afraid to USE the word crippled since it applies), and began selling my quiver of motorcycles and scooters after I became to paralyzed to even ride those. I fought harder than ANY fight in my life to stay on 2 wheels. To stop, has taken just about the very last shred of my manhood or sense of adventure, of feeling alive....Riding, like surfing, was the very essence of being ALIVE for me. Both made me feel, sense, imagine. Before any day of surfing or riding, just the planning of it gave me days of relentless escape from all the boredom, stress and worry of everyday life. I lived with my aches & pains, I pushed all the agonies of my life aside cuz I knew I had an adventure waiting.

Well that was THEN....This is now. And the cruel irony is I have now had this subscription for over 2 years and just renewed for another 2. After time with this publication, I would kick myself for not subscribing years ago. Trouble is I am too banged up to even kick myself:-) What this gives me is the fantasy of still "being there". The editors leave you with the sense that you ARE there. Their love of riding shines through, unswayed by paid advertisers. Their love or lack of it for any given bike or scooter shine through all the BS. I wish I could find some dozen or so superlatives to express how grateful I am to this magazine but none would be worthy. I guess the best I can say is that it almost makes me feel less has been lost. But then again my next door neighbor just bought a new Ducati last week and I just may not survive any of this after that.....

5.0 out of 5 stars By far the best motorcycle magazine September 7, 2013
Subscription Term Name:1 year auto-renewal|Verified Purchase
This magazine isn't flashy. It doesn't come in glossy print like most magazines. They don't have flashy graphics, or babes on the cover.

They also don't have any ads at all. It's entirely funded by subscribers, so their product reviews are completely unbiased. They have great writers and great segments. One writer is a doctor who does the "medical motorcycling" segment, another is a psychologist who does the "mental motorcycling" bit, a lawyer who has a Q&A segment, a motorcycle designer who writes a section about motorcycle design each month, and there's an extensive segment on safe riding skills. Not to mention reviews of motorcycles & gear, stories about trips on motorcycles, how-to mechanical articles, opinion editorials, and more.

Motorcycle Consumer News is aimed at a more mature riding audience than most motorcycle magazines. They cover all styles of motorcycles without catering to any "lifestyle" stereotypically associated with any of them. If you ride because it completes an image you wish to convey, this isn't for you. If you ride because you love it and are serious about being the best, safest, and most informed rider you can be, this is definitely the magazine you want.

5.0 out of 5 stars great magazine September 20, 2012
By atlm
Subscription Term Name:2 years|Verified Purchase
MCN is a great magazine. I've been subscribing for many years. Although more expensive than other motorcycle magazines (I subscribe to 5), it's 100% content, rather than 50% or more ads.

The product reviews and comparisons are great, almost always finding a lower-cost product that outperforms its higher price competition. The technical articles go nicely in-depth, like the very old article on oils, and the recent series on fuel injection.

That said, I've found that their motorcycle reviews and comparisons don't always line up completely with my riding opinions of the same bikes (I've owned over 20 and ridden many more than that), and my findings are usually a blend of what MCN reports and what other motorcycle mags report.

Another small shortcoming I've found is their 5-star rating system, which is missing 3 key elements: the fun factor, easy upgrades that make a large difference, and resale value.

You can have a motorcycle that does everything well but is boring to ride, and vice versa, you can have a motorcycle that doesn't have perfect handling or 150 horsepower, but makes you smile every time you ride it. In the US, where the vast majority of people buy motorcycles for fun, not utility, it should be taken into account, but isn't. There is mention of the riding experience in the articles, but some 3/3.5 star bikes have much more satisfied owners than some 4/5 star bikes (as reflected in their web forums and higher resale values).

Some motorcycles are rated poorly for comfort because of their seats, buffetting from the windscreen, etc.
