The cons to this helmet I would say is the wind noise. (This is the 1st helmet I have owned but from what I'm told from other motorcycle friends there are probably quieter helmets). Also the chin strap seems a little difficult to use but these cons in my opinion is not enough to say this helmet not worth buying.
In conclusion I would say this is a great first time helmet for someone who is a beginner and who doesn't want to spend a lot of money (or can't afford to spend a lot of money). I'm over all happy with this purchase and plan on buying one again for a passenger helmet.
P.S. the sizing runs a little small. My head measured at 23" and I bought an XL because I seen others saying it ran a little small and the XL fits perfect.
best helmet i've ever purchased. IT SAVED MY LIFE! i was riding and some ediot cut me off then slammed on his brakes. I was going about 45mph and had two choices; go through his back windshield or down the bike. needless to say i downed the bike. once i let go of it i did summersaults on the ground for almost 300 feet since i was going so fast. when i finally stopped flipping my helmet was fully intact, my bike was totaled and i was happy to be alive.
BUY THIS HELMET! IT SAVED MY LIFE!
- Excellent price!
- Comes with the smoke visor (A $20-$30 value when sold separately for most other brands)
- Looks about as cool as the picture makes it look.
- Swapping visors is pretty easy; no tools required.
- Feels incredibly cheap; makes me not want to trust it in a crash. (You get what you pay for?)
- Part with metal clips for chinstrap is shortened, making it difficult to fasten.
- Cheek padding design makes it tricky to use with glasses.
- Very tight; might have to get a size higher than usual. Sizing guide: [...]
Yes, the price was fantastic, and it was great that it came with a smoke visor, but when I first opened this helmet it just felt so...cheap. Granted the helmet looked pretty cool, but I wouldn't trust it in a crash: It was very lightweight, and it didn't feel like there was a lot of padding material on the upper part of the inside. Even if the lack of it was supposed to help with making it lighter and help with ventilation, it just felt like there wasn't enough. The padding also didn't seem very well attached to the inside of the helmet, making me feel like it could more easily tear out over time. The material on the chinstrap felt paper-thin, and the side with the metal clips was really short, so it was easy to have that part accidentally slide up inside the helmet when putting it on even if you tried to hold it in place. It also made fastening and buttoning it a little trickier. The metal clips for the chinstraps also felt cheap - almost like they were plastic.
Another thing that made me feel like the helmet was overall too cheap was the fact that there were several spelling errors on the tag inside the helmet and on the visor removal instructions. Sure, that had nothing to do with the helmet's functionality, but I couldn't take the helmet very seriously after seeing something like that.
The helmet was also super tight when putting it on - the kind of tight that felt like it could slice your ears off. After getting it on it felt comfortable enough, though. Helmets are supposed to be tight when you first get them since they'll open up a bit over time, but this felt like an exception. Make sure to double-check your head size for this brand, since different brands use different measurements. Here's a link to Ivolution's sizing guide: [...]
The cheek padding also made it a little more difficult to wear with glasses. There was a small slit in the padding that the glasses kept riding up into, so I had to tuck them under it to get them on right. It didn't make putting on the glasses impossible - just a little more annoying.
The instructions for putting on and removing the visors was a little strange and didn't help much, but it was pretty easy to figure it out on my own.
After all that, maybe this is still the right helmet for you. For me, though, it had the right look I was going for, but the cheap-ness of it lead me to return it right away and increase my price range a bit so I could get something I'd be more confident in safety-wise.
Normally, for motorcycle helmets with possible crash implications, I would spend at bit more since your life may literally be on the line.
When it comes to helmets and motor sports, don't skimp. Buy the very best you can afford. You only get one chance in life.
