Producer Ben Slavin cares about Latin America. He rode his motorcycle- a beaten up Kawasaki KLR 650- from the US all the way to the bottom of Argentina, and back. His first-hand observations were often very different from what he'd learned from the US media. He loved Mexico so much that he produced this DVD set.

This isn't a fancy studio production. There is no traditional, mass-media censorship. This is raw footage of actual riders- men and women with real experience- telling it like it is. One look at their faces tells you that anybody who wants to can probably ride a motorcycle in Mexico. You certainly don't have to be a soldier-of-fortune. You can be completely normal and average, and you can ride any kind of motorcycle that you like.

Like Ben, I am also an experienced Latin America Rider, and I often get questions from others who want to travel SOB (South of the Border). The questions range from the idiotic, "Should I bring cyanide in case I get kidnapped?" to the intelligent, "What kind of travel medications should I bring?" and technical, "Where can I find a mechanic for my motorcycle?" In this DVD set, Ben entertains these questions and everything else he and his experts could think of. I know it's going to save me an awful lot of time.

Ben interviewed me, several of my friends, and several people I have never met. The first thing I noticed about our respective interviews was how often we each said the same thing, only differently. Mexico is fun. Mexico is not dangerous unless you are stupid. Mexico has great dentistry. Mexico is big. Overland travel in Mexico isn't for everybody.

Before my first motorcycle trip to Mexico, I was terribly unprepared. I was frightened so badly that I turned back after only a few hundred miles.

If you're tempted to do a motorcycle tour of Mexico you may be apprehensive. That's normal; the unknown can be scary. Solution: learn more so it's not so scary. That's what Ben does for you here in this two DVD set. He has experienced Mexico riders tell you of their troubles and their good times, and they share tips on how to deal with just about every aspect of adventure touring. Even if you go ahead and talk to a lot of experienced riders on your own, you're miles ahead if you start with these DVDs.

This is a great series of interviews and information for anyone planning on riding through Mexico. The information that Ben provides is both timely and reassuring. Any question you might have from-Border crossing to selecting a motorcycle will help make your trip so much easier and thus more enjoyable. I also think that the information provided can help anyone who has plans of travelling through any third world country. Would recommend highly.

For anyone who has considered riding through Mexico, but has heard all of the "horror stories" from people who have never even been there, or perhaps is just overwhelmed with questions about various logistics, this DVD set is for you. If your spouse, significant other, or riding buddy is hesitant about Mexico, they should watch this to reassure them. It is basically a series of short interviews with very knowledgeable, well-traveled riders who have spent a lot of time riding in Mexico. Some are even Mexican nationals, so you get their perspective as well. The interviews are then edited into brief topics or categories, so you can get to the meat of your particular areas of interest. Good quality video and audio make watching this entertaining, instead of painful, like some of the less-well-produced videos.

I would highly recommend Motorcycle Mexico to anyone wanting to be prepared before leaving home, and enjoy touring the country.

This video is filled with great information about travelling in Mexico. Including nuggets in the interviews that were not questions that I was looking for answers to. I do wish there some discussion about the speed, or the rate at which, one should expect to travel. This definitely depends on the traveler, but should I anticipate 200 mile days or are 500+ mile days likely? I would like to know the speed limits on the toll roads and the free roads. How much do the toll roads cost?

If you are heading to Mexico on a moto, this is a great resource. Everything you need and lots more. This DVD set goes far to reduce any apprehension I had in planning my trip. It will be a few years for me, but the information contained in the DVDs has gone far to move the destination up on my list. Only thing I wish I would have heard more of is the actual places to go and see - not much on this. But, assume it can be found elsewhere...

I stumbled across filmmaker Ben Slavin at the Overland Expo in Amado, AZ. There were so many available DVDs and books for sale it was tough to make a decision about what to spend my money on. Ultimately, I chose this DVD and I made the right choice! Motorcycle Mexico is so packed full of great travel info it's worth every penny. It would take weeks of research online to learn what Ben presents in this two DVD set.

Riding to Mexico has always been a far fetched, impossible dream in the back of my mind. After watching this DVD set I am more inspired and informed than I ever thought I'd be about riding in Mexico. Experienced riders answer every conceivable question you may have about travel SOB in a well cataloged, easy to navigate series of chapters. I plan to make my dreams reality this summer, currently plotting a coastal route to Acapulco and this DVD is the reason!

If you're planning a Mexico trip or still just dreaming about it, this disc should be your first piece of kit! Thanks Ben for putting this all together. I think you should create a how too series for the entire world!
