This thing is great! I was cautiously optimistic when I ordered it, after some pretty extensive research and much deliberation. I wanted it to live up to the hype. I ride quite a few miles per week on my road bike and am terrified of losing my beloved iPhone while pedaling. but I also want to have metrics and stats while I ride. The phone in a jersey pocket is 'no bueno'. I ordered this and had it mounted in 5 minutes. With a little planning I was able to mount in in a way that with the ball joint fully 'forward' the phone lays almost flat and is perfect for use as a trip computer with Strava running. With the ball joint all the way tipped back, I can take pics or start a video clip that is from handlebar POV.
For the record, I have an iPhone 6+ in a somewhat streamlined Tech21 rubber case. It fits WITH ROOM TO SPARE. My wifes 6+ with a Speck case fits just as nicely. Your phone WILL fit. Probably even a 6+ with a ginormous OtterBox.
So, I mounted the thing, and went for a ride. I bunny-hopped my road bike off curbs and hit intersection rain gutters at 30mph 'sprint speed' and it never even flinched. I'm sold on the stability of the thing.
There are a few things that aren't perfect sunshine and rainbows.
1) it's more obtrusive than I expected. the mount is rather large and the phone sits several inches up off the stem/bars. not a big deal, because you bought this to mount a phone. Don't expect the clean sexy lines of your drop bars to remain untouched. It's probably not that 'Aero'. such is the price for having your phone mounted on a ball socket joint for your viewing pleasure. With that, I can see why they say not for motorcycle use. you've just made your phone into an airfoil, held with a rubber band. 80 on the freeway is gonna be a stress.
2) that rubber band works exceedingly well....now. I don't expect it to survive more than maybe a year or 18 months in the AZ heat. I'd love to know that I can get a replacement. I don't see them available with a google search. If in the end, the band dies....I think 18 months is a fair deal for the price I paid. I would suggest that if Tackform is reading this.... add in a second butterfly thing, and charge 2 bucks more. Because stuff happens.
Overall. Would 100% buy again.
