For those that still believe Li-Ion batteries are free from charge/discharge 'memory effect', this latest scientific finding refutes that: http://phys.org/news/2013-04-memory-effect-lithium-ion-batteries.html This also explains why Li-Ion battery indicators/meters in devices become inaccurate because of these memories.
I have the original Droid Razr XT910 and that is what my comments will be on as far as installation and trouble shooting. Still love the phone but the battery duration has been bad since the start but even worse as time went by, pretty much connected to charger continuously at this point.
I've had the phone over 2 years and no other complaints. Upgrading is not an option for me as I am still on unlimited data with my carrier and upgrade would null that perk forever....so buying a new phone at full price or even a used newer one was too spendy for me. The battery upgrade option is perfect.
I watched the YouTube installation video several times and made sure I had the correct tools and was in a patient mood :). The installation went fine and I was happy I had purchased the additional bezel and battery frame as it saved time and effort. Once I had the phone put back together, I charged the battery (it showed at 5%). The phone showed the battery fully charged after five minutes of charging with power cord. I unplugged the charger as it has stopped charging, and five minutes later, the battery is down to 5% again. Thought the battery might be defective but my hubby said maybe the phone needs to figure out that there is a larger battery capacity. So I decided to try letting the battery totally die. Well, even though the battery said 5%, it still took 14 more hours before the phone battery discharged, so that gave me hope :) I don't think the phone knew what 'dead' was with the new battery yet.
After letting the phone battery totally discharge, I charged it again (wall charger) with the phone powered OFF and it took it a bit over 3 hours to charge fully to 100%, which was a good sign. 17 hours later (8 of that being non-use sleeping time) I still have 50% left so I am a happy camper! I will let it totally discharge again and repeat the process, just to make sure. The only thing that is different is that the percentage of battery left that used to show on the left side of the batter icon on the top task bar no longer shows, just the battery icon itself with the level, but I can live with that. I really love my Razr XT910 (now a MAXX) so this upgrade is like getting a new phone for me. I’m very happy with the upgrade kit, plus the Cellphone Repair Shop was willing to give me a free diagnosis if I was not able to solve it. But who wants to go without their phone?
Hopefully this solution will help someone else too.
I have a new phone now! I only charge the phone at night and often go to sleep with 40% battery left.
