I considered one of the super-extended batteries Seidio Innocell 2800 mAh Battery for Motorola Droid with Replacement Door (Black), but they are just so huge! I did not want that big bulge on the back of my phone. This battery increases the phone's profile only slightly.
This battery gives me almost twice the usage time, and I'm quite pleased with it. Most of the time it lasts all day. And I still have the original battery that I can swap in on those extra heavy usage days. This strategy works well with this charging unit NEW OEM Motorola battery charger SPN5564, so I can charge one battery while using the other.
UPDATE 8/15/15: My phone died yesterday despite the new battery and I bought a new one. The Verizon sales guy said that this battery should have come with a new battery cover to fit it, and perhaps that is why it cost so little.
Cons: The door was almost impossible to get on because it didn't quite fit so had to force it with alot of pressure. It literally reboots several times a day which at first I was ok with because if you were careful picking it up or sitting it down it wouldn't reboot. Now after 3 months it reboots 5 or more times every single day and I just cant take it anymore. It reboots because the battery doesn't fit snugly and the door doesn't help in that department so then the connectors between the phone and the battery loses connection if their is any movement. Because the battery is not a snug fit the connectors can disconnect at anytime and the phone will not turn back on, you have to open the door then push it back in with extreme force then the phone will turn back on. I don't recommend this phone unless you don't mind it turning off when you put it in your pocket or purse or case or even when you take it out. I'll be in the middle of a call and it just turns off, extremely annoying. Just stick with the regular OEM Extended Battery and keep the standard battery charged as a backup if you travel, no it doesn't last as long but you won't have as many issues.
No complaints so far. My battery used to drain overnight for some reason, so I would always have to leave it plugged in, as by the time my alarms would sound, it would sometimes drain before I even heard it.
I can now leave it on overnight and have surprisingly discovered that even with wifi and bluetooth still enabled, I'll still have 80 percent of my battery left in the morning. This is after having it topped off at work the prior night, no charge on the way home, moderate phone usage, over\night and morning alarms too.
Now, this review is far from mathematically accurate, but I've never been one that took number crunching very easily, especially with something as many variables as this. *BUT* what I can tell you is that my battery life no longer feels debilitating, because I used to have to keep it charged every waking second of the day if I decided to use Navigation at all (and I do to check traffic conditions).
I used to get down to 20 percent frequently, but now I rarely go below 60 percent, if that.
Fits snug, cover is nice, and even if tight, I can still fit it with all of my docks. I don't notice anything for the desk dock, but it is a little tight for the car dock.
