I had motorstorm one and my friends and I wold always play it but we always wanted to play multi player so when we heard the second one had multiplayer we had to get it. This game has a great multiplayer that is easy to use.
The controls are easy to learn. There are 18 new tracks. This game has many different sorts of vehichles. It has stunning graphics and all different sorts of terrain. There is not really anything bad about this game and I love it!!!!

In many ways, I regret not buying this game sooner, although I did get another great deal here at Amazon. This game is a technical masterpiece, among the the best looking console games. I loved the elemental themes of the races. Evolution clearly listened to the criticisms of the original MotorStorm game, as loading is considerably quicker and there is now a 4-player split sceen mode for those with enormous televisions. There's little to criticize, really. There are some minor, frustrating components to certain races, including guiding fireworks explosions that aren't clearly visible until you are very close, meaning you'll need to just memorize them for the most part. I disliked some of the audio tracks, but you can remove them from the playlist and even play your own music from the XMB. The difficulty can be rather tough, but I actually enjoy challenging games. It's as close to perfection as I've seen in an arcade racer. I was surprised to see how significantly improved this game was over its predecessor, as I already thought the original was a very good game. Pacific Rift is even better. It's a very similar game to the original, yet almost every aspect has been is improved.

Great game for the first half - turns into a frustrating, bitter mess due to cheating AI

Motorstorm: Pacific Rift is a beautiful game. Even now 2013, the game looks really crisp with locales lush with vegetation, waterfalls, beaches and volcanoes. 16 tracks in total to explore, lots of different vehicle classes and several game modes to partake in (the online component has been shut down and therefore unavailable). The best part is that you can play split screen with up to 4 players which a lot of games do not offer anymore.
The issue with Motorstorm: Pacific Rift is in its difficulty. That's not to say that the game is too hard for me, because once you've learned the tracks (and learning the tracks inside and out is absolutely crucial but not necessarily fun) the game has little in terms of surprises to offer.
The issue is that when you've reached the higher levels, 6 - 8, the AI and the game plain start cheating to the point where one moment in a long race could see you go from 2nd to 16th in a blink of an eye.
You'll feel like you've done nothing wrong as 9/10 times you'll hit a rock the size of a baseball, an uneven ground, or an AI player and spin out of control and crash at which point the race is as good as over.
Another game mechanics includes tons of different routes to take in each track - awesome concept and idea, but when competing against the AI, they will more often than not take a different rout from you and emerge in front of you. Again, you'll often go from 1st to 10th in a matter of seconds.
And last but not least - boost - hold down X and get a boost of speed but be careful not to overheat it as your car will explode.
Issue is, the boost heats up too quick and you have to use it very sparingly which in my opinion is way too constrictive.
Not helped by the fact that the AI always has seemingly endless boost, especially when you're racing them to the finishing line
Also not helped by the fact that the AI will always make it their priority to inconvenience you (ramming you, crashing you or simply standing in front of you to block you) rather than try and win the race.

Very very frustrating and i don't remember when was the last time i played a game i genuinely felt like i couldn't finish.
I wanted to like this game - i loved it for the first 2/3's while playing through all the events and races.
But then instead of making intelligent AI, the developers decided to let it cheat and cheat it does because it uses all the tricks at its disposal.
I am pretty good at games and racing games in particular, but this is one that i will not allow myself to get frustrated over due to crappy, cheating AI.
Steer clear.

Great Game - If a Bit Outdated Now

We are not a family of gamers and to be honest we have strongly resisted the urge to have TV and games consoles in our household but a family member bought our 10 y/o son a PS3 for Christmas 2012. Obviously he was over the moon so we decided to let him play driving games and the like - no FPS or Zombie Brain Splatter stuff...
Anyway we bought him this game which he loves - and is good at! He also has GT5 and Need For Speed and is really into the driving, flying type of games. Motor Storm is a bit dated compared to others on the market but it does the job pretty well. Besides the completely over the top explosions and crashes there is no blood shed or shooting, though there is a small amount of violence as you are able to knock each other off motor cycles. No swearing or sex (so far...) so all in all not a bad game really.

I am a casual gamer, but I love this game so much that I can play it for hours and hours without getting bored. The game feels incredibly real -- the scene, the sound and the control. And I was kept being surprised how many details have been taken care of. I can go way off the road, and most of the objects (trees, grass, rocks, water) are 'real', e.g. you can bump into almost any tree/rock/signs, drive through tall grass, clinch the edge of the cliff and fight back to the road... And the graphics are amazing, too. I have only played 2 tracks so far and I am sure I will enjoy the rest of the game.

PS２版のマウンテンバイカーズでレースゲームに
ハマり、エクストリームレーシング-PURE-を購入
したのですが、それでも足りず、こちらを購入しました。
PSP版でモーターストームを持ってたのですが、
面白い印象しか無かったのです。

CPUに抜かされたり負けたりしても、全く悔しく無く、
また遊びたくなるレースゲームでした。
迫力は有るしスピード感も有るし、色々と
ぶっ飛んでる所が好印象。
何度も何度も、時間を忘れて遊んでしまいました。
洋ゲーチックですが、グラフィックが凄く丁寧に
作られてるのに驚きました。
フリーズも、動きも粗いと言う事が無かったです。
レースゲームファンにも、購入を考えてる方にも、
安心してオススメする事が出来ます。
海外版ですが、モードセレクト画面等も
分かるレベルの英語なので、問題無く
遊べました。
モーターストーム３(海外版)を買うか迷ってましたが、
絶対に買おうと思います。
