About the Brand

Moulin Roty is a French toy company that had produced award-winning toys for over 40 years, and has charmed the youngest members of millions of families across the globe to date.

History

Moulin Roty is a tiny communal village in western France founded in 1972 as a quest for a healthier and more rewarding lifestyle. In 1975 The Moulin Roty Toy Company launched 2 toys: a car made of wood and sponge, and a soft rag doll named "la douillette" that charmed everyone with its originality. In 1980 Moulin Roty became a worker-owned cooperative. To ensure the development and the durability of the company, the founding members adopted the status of co-op (SCOP in French) to preserve the founding values of the brand: solidarity, sharing and respect.

Materials

Moulin Roty searches for the very best materials, selecting most of their fabrics from France and the rest from Europe because of their design and technical quality, as well as their non-toxicity. (Oeko-Tex certified). All solid wood used, mainly beech wood, comes from forests that are managed ecologically and that respect quotas for felling and re-planting.

Small defects in the box, the hinges to hold tools in place were broken upon opening. However with the tools inside our daughter was able to replace the hinges so it was a perfect first carpentry project in the end. Nice quality and perfectly sized for little helpers. Our 6 year old loves having real tools that fit her hands and can still work hard to do fun projects and household fixes.

The product is incredibly cute and an amazing idea for young boys to have a nice tool set, however, the price was pretty high and the quality is somewhat flimsy. The child would have to treat this very delicately as not to ruin it. The tools are very real which I actually liked about the product as a child can get real results using the items. You must have adult supervision for this reason. Overall I’m happy with purchase but can’t say I’d re purchase.

Ok theres the thing. I bought this as a brithday gift for an 8 year old. He enjoys working and building things with his grandfather and I thought it would be a nice gift and 8 is a good age for children understand about tools, their uses, care, and safety. I bought it thinking it would be a good started set for him. I opened it up and had to laugh. Though it's a decent quality set, it is way to small for and 8 year or for that matter, his 5 year old brother. They would look at it and say this is a toddler toy. This is a toy that looks like it was made for a 2 or 3 year old, only thing is, I wouldn't give a toddler a real tool set. What does a 2 or 3 year old need with or even know what a hammer or sceaw driver is for other to run around with it. The saw, yet not very sharpe is still as sharp as a steak knife. This toy is meant for an age group that is to young to understand tools and their uses and a child old enough to have something like this would think it a toddler toy. Very age inappropriate.

This is a pretty cool gift and the recipient (5 year old girl) was really excited because she could now help her dad work around the house. The ONLY thing I would change is the hammer. The face of it (the flat part that would hit a nail) isn't even, so it didn't really work. We just took it to a bench grinder and it worked fine. That would be my only gripe.
