They are quite large and very furry so be warned they can be a bit much to handle. Installing them on a flemish twist string is fairly easy to do without tools, insert one end in-between the strands then TIGHTLY twist down the string until there is only enough to barely insert between the strands again. For being such large and fuzzy balls they look great on a traditional bow. I couldn't recommend them enough. Even the girlfriend is constantly rubbing these balls, commenting about how large and soft they are, she can't get enough of them.
*be warned, if your bow string is heavily waxed these balls are going to clump up and get messy. This is easily fixed with a nice cleaning to get them plump and fuzzy again, ready for action*
You'll get 2 pieces that are 1/4 inch or so wide. You could cut the piece in half long ways and give yourself 4 thinner strands that would make smaller beaver balls if you wanted. The color is different than the picture, which is fine with me. I wanted the darker brown color anyways. Make sure to twist it with the twist of the string when your installing them for a tighter/better fit. When I separated my flemish strands equally I used two smooth plastic paint brush handles to help with installation and slide them up the string while I wrapped the strips of beaver fur.
If you've never installed these reach out to youtube. I personally like the way a guy on a channel called Merlins Archery shows it. Also, if your wondering where to place them (since its not as easy as other silencers to move around) I would suggest measuring where the string leaves the bow limbs on a recurve or the tips on a longbow and then divide in 4ths. You could also divide in 3rds instead. Or lastly do it Heterodyning style, which makes the top limb's silencer be placed at the 1/4 mark and the bottom limb's silencer at the 1/3 mark. Either way just make sure to put them on both sides and Google for more info.
They look great, and do quiet down the twang quite a bit. We'll see how they hold up, the fur appears to be quite durable.
You get two. Just place on each end, look online for bow string wave length to figure out where to place (first and last quarter).
