With novellas, there are usually several things I worry about: lack of character and plot development along with the pacing of the story. Yet, rest assured that Mountain Hero does not lack in any of those department and the pacing was just perfect. Cheryl Yeko weaved a wonderful and COMPLETE story in just a little over 100 pages. I mean that's something hard to do, but she executed this story beautifully.
The characters, Jason and Michelle, were engaging and likeable. I surely wouldn't mind getting stranded in a snow storm with Jason and sharing all that body heat ;)
Overall, Mountain Hero was a highly enjoyable read. It had great writing, loveable characters, nice sexual tension and the story flowed effortlessly. I also enjoyed the bits of suspense thrown in as well. This story is a definite winner in my book. Can't wait to read more from Cheryl Yeko. She has gotten herself a new fan and reader!
Jason is driving home after his long shift at work and sees a car stranded on the side of the road, its driver gone. Up the road, he catches the scared beauty being hustled by two scumbags. Distracting the thugs, Jason escapes with Michelle into the woods. Finding shelter in a nook of the mountain, Jason will do anything to ensure Michelle does not get sick or die on his watch. Using his own determination of will and resourcefulness, Jason is aware of what he has to do to keep them warm and safe until morning.
The author has effortlessly amped up the heat on the pages along with writing likeable characters. The story was quite good!
Really fat sweet read with a really great guy. Who wouldn't want to be saved by someone like Jason. Told in dual POVs and has a good ending.
Just a thought. Just once I would like to see the girl jump in the truck, slam it into gear and run over the bad guy laying in the road. Then back up and run over the other one. Then leave the scene and if they aren't dead they will freeze to death. The world will be a better place. Just a thought. It seems the heroine always does one stupid thing after another. The bear is about to attack and she says "Shoo bear!" Come on, give her more grits than that.
