The Mountain House Diced Chicken is a great addition to your recipes for stew, soups, marinara and chili.

Between their beef and the chicken, I prefer the Mountain House chicken as it tastes better when re-hydrated.
The #10 Cans are convenient for storage and they have a long shelf life. For someone who is not familiar with freeze dried meats, the can weight may be a concern when you first get the product (it feels very lightweight). This is because all of the water is gone and therefore most of the weight.
When you open the can, the first thing you notice is that the can isn't full - only about 1/2 to 3/4. Although settling may occur during shipping, the can was probably not full to begin with - not sure why they don't fill the cans more. This is is a concern for me - I'm taking the space of a #10 can in my deep-larder but not using it in the can. I'd rather they either fill the can and charge more, or use smaller cans/packaging. It's wasting space in my larder.
Also, there is a lot of chicken 'dust' in the can - this is probably from the processing that occurs AFTER the freeze dried process which breaks tiny bits of chicken off of the larger pieces. In some cans, it's quite a bit of chicken 'dust' (much more than a cup) so if you want to get your full money's worth, you need to use it. Be prepared to make meals that can accommodate this re-hydrated chicken dust - soups and the like.
When re-hydrating, the chicken looks and tastes like real chicken (which it is) and is ready to eat. (TIP: Use chicken bouillon or light chicken stock to re-hydrate and add flavor).
I rated this product 4 stars because it tastes good and is good quality. I didn't give it 5 stars because the cans are not filled more (for the space they are taking on the shelf) and the processing produces too much chicken bits/dust.
