This is a book about self-sabatoge. Why we do it, when we do it, and how to stop doing it—for good. Coexisting but conflicting needs create self-sabotaging behaviors. This is why we resist efforts to change, often until they feel completely futile. But by extracting crucial insight from our most damaging habits, building emotional intelligence by better understanding our brains and bodies, releasing past experiences at a cellular level, and learning to act as our highest potential future selves, we can step out of our own way and into our potential. For centuries, the mountain has been used as a metaphor for the big challenges we face, especially ones that seem impossible to overcome. To scale our mountains, we actually have to do the deep internal work of excavating trauma, building resilience, and adjusting how we show up for the climb. In the end, it is not the mountain we master, but ourselves.

Great book, not so great printing…
I’ve listened to this book, it’s great. I decided I wanted a physical copy…It came nicely packaged, wrapped in a plastic seal. Once I got the plastic wrap off, the pages were cut wrong and that kind sucks. Luckily the only part missing is the page numbers - but it’s a little disappointing, especially when shipping takes so long. The information in the book itself is amazing, so I am grateful the rest of the book seems to be OK.

This book was definitely worth the read. Starting out on my self mastery journey, it really helped a lot. It opened my mind to all the possible ways I haven’t been living to my full potential and how I can change that going forward while enjoying the present moments of life. Great for introspection. Definitely recommend!!!

I originally thought Brianna Weist’s books were only for younger generations. I am 54. While a lot of content from her books including The Mountain is You can be very accommodating for a younger demographic, there are plenty of nuggets of great points for any age. When we become so set in our ways at any age, we close ourselves off to learning new ideas and stagnation is the result. Neuroplasticity is something ever changing and is beneficial to anyone at any age! I did also purchase a complete 4 books set for our 25 year old daughter and her husband.

Just finished reading this with my mama. It's not super technical or science based, which makes it an easy read. Some parts are repetitive as other reviews have mentioned, but overall it is an empowering read.

5.0 out of 5 stars My life experiences in a book
Reviewed in Canada on August 8, 2023
I thought about checking the references of this book a couple times to see if Brianna had my life story as a reference for this book. Especially in the first few chapters I have highlights and underlines on every page. I like that the book gets straight to the point, calls you out and then tells you how you can improve or what you need to pay attention to. There is much reference to shadows, shadow self, and pioneer of shadow work, Carl Jung, in this book that may lead you to your next book on shadow work to take a deeper dive and unpack your life to uncover your authentic self.

When I just got this book I was a little turned off by the fact that it doesn’t have a table of contents…. My brain wanted that. But I made peace with it and joined a book club that was reading the book a few months later and finally got into it. It is simple, Frank and to the point. Telling you things you know but need to be reminded of and things you know you should start or stop doing. Recommended read especially if you find yourself stuck. Recommended read for business women and entrepreneurs as well.
