I'm not a romance reader, but I love the Bourbon Books, and this was no exception. This third installment follows cynical, jaded Melinda who is so convinced love is not in the cards for her that she keeps pushing away the one man who both needs and wants her.
As usual, the action takes place during a Ranchers' retreat, and there is plenty of humor and female bonding along with Melinda's journey toward opening her heart. I had to force myself to put this book down so that I could go to bed at a reasonable hour because I couldn't wait to see what Melinda was going to do and how this was all going to (or not going to) work out.
I can't recommend this book enough!
Okay, where do I even start? Dibs was dinner, Since September was dessert... but this? This was something completely different. This was the triple decker nachos at midnight, the chocolate-covered strawberries on Valentine’s Day. This was DELECTABLE.
I’ll admit, I was hesitant about Melinda as the main character. I had grown so attached to little Olivia, and I didn’t know if I would be able to get invested in a different main character. I realized within the FIRST chapter that this wouldn’t be an issue. Melinda is fascinating, flawed, relatable and hilarious. The inner workings of her mind had me both cracking up and on the verge of tears at times.
Now we need to talk about our leading man. I was not expecting him to be so dreamy?? *Damn*. I will take a sip of his tequila ANY time.
And of course, just like the first two books- this story takes you to places you’re not expecting. This is not your typical “sexy romp”. I FELT THINGS reading this book. It is a truly special gem within this genre! If you enjoyed Adam and Olivia’s sweet love story, you will love Melinda’s sexy, poignant journey!!
You can read this alone, but it's definitely best read after Dibs and Since September.
I related the most to this book - if you haven't felt like Melinda, you have a friend who has. Striking out, aimless in her relationships but secure in herself, self-contained, but still open to more. And when "more" comes, Melinda questions herself, and the motives of the man who attracts her, but also leaves enough doubt to be maddening. Will she unravel this mystery? Will she look for greener pastures and ignore the growth around her?
Sorry for being nebulous. I hate spoilers! This book was a really fun journey, and taking it while riding shotgun with Melinda is definitely worth the trip.
Also, no bodices were ripped, but plenty of Ranger shorts get kicked under beds! <3

We had already met Melinda in the previous books, but in this one we actually get to know her, and what a wonderful character she is, with all her insecurities and fears.
I found the romance very moving, there was a point toward the end of the book that almost made me tear up! We find out more and more about Mitch, in layers, and I think the way this was shown was great!
Great romance story. I really liked it.
I really enjoyed delving into other characters within The Bourbon Books. Looking forward to reading more in the future (can we find a happy ending for Jamie, please? haha). It was also great to see some more of Olivia and Adam!
