Editorial Reviews

One of the most valuable, and there are many, lessons of the book is that Mr. Bettinger casts a critical and yet empathic lens on the topic of people who cannot speak to us of their needs and desires in life. We must "know them" first and foremost. Diagnosis and planning then follow- an essential dynamic if we are truly going to provide optimal care for others...He offers multiple examples and well-thought out process-based plans that are a gift to those who do this important and yet very difficult work.Alan S. Roy Lilley wrote : It is a fabulous book and you should be very proud of your work and your mission.Roy has been voted the top UK speaker on NHS topics twice and is listed in the Debretts most influential people in healthcare. This is the best book I ever have read about healthcare. I have learned that problem behavior is away of communication for those who can not tell us their message inwords.
If you want to learn and understand that problem behavior is signal behaviour - Buy this book
Stop running - Stand still
Because only by standing still you can move on
Only by standing still you can to start seeing what is
I hope that if I become care dependent my care worker has read this book :)

From the Author

It was a beautiful experience writing my first book. The feedback, I very often get, is that it's so simple described, no difficult words. Everyone recognizes this. I cannot get a better compliment. In the Netherlands and Belgium  eldery homes, institutions for people with developmental disabilities, careworkers in youth-care and family-members from dependent persons are enthousiastic after reading my book.  It is used by educations for students Social work, students Care and well being,  Also docters and psychologists are working with it. --This text refers to the paperback edition.
