“… Mr. Adam is an artifact of classic science fiction-an equally biting satire and ominous warning to society-that will resonate deeply with readers today as it did when it was first published in 1946.” (FantasyLiterature.com)
About the Author
Pat Frank (1908–1964) is the author of the classic postapocalyptic novel Alas, Babylon, as well as the Cold War thriller Forbidden Area. Before becoming an author, Frank worked as a journalist and also as a propagandist for the government. He is one of the first and most influential science fiction writers to deal with the consequences of atomic warfare.

The story then is the story of our Government considering him to be a national resource while the Russians, et al want us to share him. It has a ring of truth about how governments act.
The setting is a bit antiquated, having been published in 1948 and covering an accident that didn't and couldn't happen, but the government actions seem to be just as relevant (that means stupid) now as they did so many years ago.
Overall, I think it's an OK read if you can grab the book for free. I don't regret having spend time on it; but it most certainly is not the most enthralling piece of fiction I have ever read.
