I bought 4 of these to light dark areas in the back of my house. They worked so good that I bought 6 more for the sides and front of the house. I have had no problem with any of the lights. Set the two switches inside for brightness and timer. I use bright and the short duration time. The light will stay on if someone is moving around, even on the short time setting. The remote works well too and you can set all the lights to use one remote. I mounted some on the house and put some on the provided stake in the ground. A great light for the money. The coverage and brightness is good but don't compare it to a 300 Watt floodlight. It is more suited to lighting targeted areas rather than lighting your entire backyard to play baseball. Also, make sure you test the light in dark conditions. The light will not operate unless it is in really dark conditions.

I just got this put in, but so far I am quite pleased. Our master bath had been remodeled before we moved into our home 4 years ago, and the previous owners included a large walk in shower. The lack of a light source above this shower wouldn't be an issue if the shower enclosure was glass. Or if the other lights in the bathroom were located closer to the middle of the ceiling. Or if it was daylight all the time. Alas, none of these is the case. The side of our shower that separates it from the rest of the bath is a 7.5 foot tiled wall, leaving 18" between the top of the wall and the ceiling to accomodate light from the fixtures on the opposite wall. As a walk in shower, one might also gain some light from the light fixture above the garden tub.... but it's in the opposite corner of the bathroom. Or, from the skylight. But that light isn't always available. In short, the shower is large and lovely and functional... but dim. Always... very... dim. And according to my electrician, there is no way to install a light in the ceiling above the shower without a considerable amount of additional remodeling. No thank you.

Enter this handy little light. It has been mounted at the end of my shower, between the top of the tile and the ceiling. The little holder for the remote has been attached to the wall outside the shower. Press a button, the shower is illuminated nicely. (Oh, look! Who knew the head of a razor had popped off into the dark corner of a shower, where someone could step on it?) Press the button again, the unobtrusive white housing fades right back into its dim little spot. Since this is an outdoor rated unit, I don't worry about water or humidity damaging the unit.

The amount of on time for this unit should be changed. Currently it is 20 seconds or 5 minutes. 5 minutes is to long 30 seconds a bit on the short side. Those are the only two options. The light is bright enough, and all other features are fine. It was exposed to many rain storms, and no issue with any water inside.

I have purchased three (3) of the MB 371 lights with the Remote and the Ground Stake. I use all 3 on the same Code with the Remote so that I may manually turn them all on at the same time if I so desire. These have good light output and are extremely easy to install, no harder than putting batteries in a flashlight and turning it on. I do wish that the light beam were a bit more focused so that there would not be a large 'donut hole' to the beam, as that minimizes and dissipates the intensity of the beam. Other than that, these are nice lights, especially if one wants to cover some area about 12ft to 15ft from the light, maybe out to 20ft. Beyond that, the beam has been compromised by the 'donut hole' effect.

After reading the very positive reviews, I bought Mr. Beams. I really needed a battery operated motion sensing security light and thought this would be perfect. The problem was nothing worked as advertised and the unit I received was obviously defective. I hate to return anything; I'm one of those people that want the product to work right out of the box with no issues. Although Amazon's return policy is pretty easy, you do have to make a trip to the post office. If you take a chance on Mr. Beams, I recommend you save the packaging.

Update: After doing some extensive research, I found myself being drawn back to this light because it really fit my needs. I have an area behind my house that very much needs a motion/light sensor and unfortunately there's no wiring for lighting. I either solve it with a battery operated solution or pay the expense of wiring a light fixture there. One of the things I learned during my research was the size of the batteries that operates the light generally equates to the amount of lighting it puts out. This particular security light takes three "D" cell batteries while most of the others in its class generally take double A's. Well, I decided to try it again hoping I wouldn't get stung twice, but this time I bought the Dorcy instead. Mr. Beams and Dorcy are identical with some very minor exceptions. I held my breath when it arrived and I'm pleased to announce that it works as advertised. The light is pretty powerful after all and the pictures they show on the packaging aren't exaggerations. The sensor picked my motion up at a pretty good distance and I was very happy about that. Although very much alike, make sure you read the differences between the Dorcy and Mr. Beams; the Dorcy has no options for you to select, while Mr. Beams does.
