The story was all over the place and its lack of focus makes for any meaningful kind of story development. Coupled with characters that have no depth, this short read felt a lot longer than it should have been. The big plot “twist” was pretty much a dud, making the rest of the book drag, when it should have been the build up to a major conflict then resolution.
If you were to delete even half of the references to Columbia, comps, sailing around the world, Mars, etc. you’d have half the word count. Details are repeated, again and again, ad nauseum. I hate leaving critical reviews, however this book needs some editorial work. The bones of a good story are there, you just have to get through the redundant fluff to get to it.
I know that not all books are for people. That being said, read it and come up with your own opinion on this one. For me it just fell flat.
