But I loved the cool looks of this thing the first time I saw one at the home of friends in Alma, Colo. They were happy with theirs and it performed well at 10,600 feet in the Colorado Rockies.
So I rolled the dice and bought one at Wal-Mart, but took care to keep the receipt in case they were having a bad day on the Third World assembly line when my coffee maker was being built.
I've used it daily for three weeks now and it's performed perfectly. No leaks, no overflowing, no fires or explosions. Just good coffee.
And I like the fact that it turns itself off after two hours so I don't have to worry about whether I turned off the coffee maker when I'm out running my morning errands.
MAY 2009 - It's still working fine, although my Colorado friends' machine crapped out sometime last year.
NOVEMBER 2012 - IT DIED. I put water and coffee in this morning and pushed the "Brew" button, but nothing happened. I unplugged it, plugged it again, and tried once more with the same result. Apparently six years is all I get.
Oh yeah...like everybody else said...IT LEAKS!!!
I have also had to put a couple of little plastic protective pads on the bottom of the machine toward the back to make sure the coffee flows INTO the carafe.
This machine has so many features and such great style that I have been willing to go through a little extra hassle to make it work. But most of all I like the coffee it makes. The cycle (on the 'strong' setting) takes longer than the Braun I was using but this seems to result in better coffee. (I didn't use the water filter on the Braun and I'm not using it on this machine either.)
There is a small rubber tube that goes into the back of your coffee maker. Please carefully remove that rubber piece, by gently pulling it out of the back of the coffee maker.
Look very carefully at that rubber tube. There is a hole in the end that was inside the coffee maker.
That hole is supposed to be facing down. If you replace the tube, by carefully pushing it in, making sure
that the hole is facing down, it should correct the issue with it leaking.
Silly that we have to do this but I thought it might help some of you.
