This is a short fabulous story in the powerfully beautiful Hargreaves Mr Men & Little Miss series. What happens to Mr Clever when he passes beyond the boundary of his Cleverland? He finds for all his cleverness, he has little practical knowledge. A friend of mine said to me that this is similar to college graduates who, after leaving university, find little practical application for all their clever thoughts. This is very true and this small book would make a good joke gift for graduates for this reason. You will find many small but profound similarities between the characters in these little books. They are sharp and witty looks at single aspects of people's personalities. No doubt adults as well as children will draw much enjoyment from them.

The whole Mr. series is a treat. We started reading these books to our son when he was about three, and we are now reading them to his son. They are the grandson's favorites. They are quick reads, several pages long with fun drawings, so he can ask for several to be read at one sitting without taxing a grownups' patience!

This stingy, Scrooge-like creature has hoards of money, but lives in a run-down house and gives lumps of coal to his relatives for Christmas. The picture of him scrabbling on the floor to pick his coins up when they spill is a classic. But one day along comes a wizard, and teaches him not to be so selfish.

'Mr. Mean' has more text than some of the other books in the Mr. Men series, and may be a bit too challenging for some readers.

As a former teacher, I think these books are great for children. They are fun and rich in vocabulary! My class always got excited to read Mr. books. They would get really excited when characters from others books would visit in different stories as well!

My little boy is 2 and absolutely loves the Mr Men books. They are fun, simple stories with simple pictures. They are also fun for the grown up to read for the 50th time!
