And for those who may be thinking "your feet were sweating in those socks"...no, my feet were completely dry when I removed the boots....dry and COLD!
So I say again, take heed before purchasing these boots for anything other than sitting in your living room watching a movie
Note: These new soles do what they say. While nothing but cleats will stop you from slipping on 1/4" of powder on glare ice, these soles work well in snow and bare ice, and very well on wet ice. They are /completely/ unlike my other Muck Masters, which now have become boots for muddy work where they'll get beat up and there's no risk of ice. Walking on ice in the older Muck boots was like trying to run across a freshly-waxed floor while wearing wool socks. Walking on wet ice, on a hill, would have been a standing sled run.
OK, I've used them in the Arctic. I've worn them walking the Arctic ice (with ice cleats). Do not trust any boot without proper cleats to the Arctic ice. "Extreme" - I'm not so sure about that one. For "extreme" temperatures, for example minus 30 degrees F, I would reach for the boots that have the separate insulating boot inside a somewhat insulated waterproof outer boot, which these do not and to get this level of insulation to fit you will have to order much larger than your shoe size. For not so "extreme" temperatures, like down to 0 degrees F, these with some good socks are great. For the mud season, they get a little warm but are wonderful. In the recent summer heat wave we are seeing in the Arctic, they are way too warm. I guess this would make them proper two and a half season Arctic boots.
Obviously, super easy to slip on and off. So comfortable. Way more so than I ever expected from a work boot. I literally love putting these boots on. Just the right amount of give in the sole.
I have wore these in -5F weather with just a pair of gym socks and had no issues at all.
The no slip is pretty great as well... unless you are walking on a pure sheet of ice, they grab well and keep you from falling all over the place... especially when trying to work a shovel or snow thrower.
Love these boot! And I know they will last for many years to come.
If I had to have one complaint... its that the soles sometime come out when I take my foot out... but that is only if I wear them barefoot and my foot starts to sweat a little so it sticks. (THATS HOW WARM THEY ARE... YOU CAN WEAR THEM BAREFOOT). but they go wright back in and all is well. No star deduction for that!!!
