Product Description

The Gator Mulcher 3-N-1 blade unique design has revolutionized the way blades mulch grass clippings. The angle of the Gator teeth redirects the air flow to keep the clipping directly in front of the cutting edge. The longer the clippings remain in front of the cutting edge, the finer the size of the clipping. These 3-N-1 blades can be used for mulching, bagging or side discharge mowing.

First and foremost the blades are marketed as mulching blades, they are not, they don't cut grass into short lengths so they decompose more quickly. Furthermore I had to remove the JD mulching adaptor kit on my 48" deck because the backside of the blade, the side with the fins, hit the deck. They cut the grass well, just like any other ordinary blade but shoot out cut grass blades that are well over 1 to 1 1/2 inches long, a true mulching blade on a deck designed to mulch grass like my JD 48" cuts grass blades into much shorter pieces that will decompose more quickly. The blades don't work as advertised and it was a mistake to buy them.

I have been using these for about 3 months now!!! and find that the factory John Deere blades hold a sharper edge much longer than these have. Just did a mid-summer blade change back to factory blades. These do offer a better price point than factory blades but do not last as long with out sharping the blades sooner.

They are good blades but don't really seem any different than the regular blades.
