See more details under my RCA ANT1500 review which outshines this RCA ANT1400.

Long story short: Location--Bayside, Queens, NY, 11 miles east of main NYC digital towers. Only brought in 14 channels (some very weak) compared to the 35 channels (mostly strong) that the ANT1500 brought in. Moving it around and rescanning several times did not help that much. Note: Channels include subchannels.

Guess size does make a difference as the ANT1400 was smaller and cheesier compared to the ANT1500.

Avoid this antenna unless you are really close to the towers you are interested in.

This is my second RCA ANT 1400R. I bought it because I am totally happy with the performance of the first one. I live seven miles from the main tower array on South Mountain, and these antennas pull in fifty nine digital channels. I don't have a cable bill now for a year, saving me about $600, which I use for Netflix and an annual $119 subscription to an overseas TV channel.

The first antenna lays flat on a shelf inside the console holding my large HDTV. This one is for a new wall mounted TV in my bedroom. I fished all the cables, including the coax for this antenna, up inside the wall. This antenna is mounted by two screws to the wall behind my desk about one foot above the floor. The antenna is not visible, and all cabling is hidden.

I bought the first antenna at the Wal-Mart down the road, but they don't carry it anymore as RCA makes newer versions which are amplified, but more expensive. Being only seven miles from the towers, I don't need an amplified one, and was happy to find it still available on AMAZON.

Delivery and packaging was normal for super saver and the antenna arrived in perfect condition.

Eighteen months ago I bought a Mohu MH-ANT1000 Paper-Thin Leaf Indoor HDTV Antenna. It is about the same size as this RCA antenna except it IS paper thin. This RCA model works just as good at about half the price, and I never see it inside or behind furniture.

If you don't need an amplified antenna, I believe this RCA would work just fine for you.

This small, inexpensive antenna works surprisingly well in my urban location. I live in a center-city area with signals coming from several directions, and I had severe ghosting problems with my analog rabbit ears. I was prepared to buy a rotating medium directional rooftop antenna (per antenna.org recommendation for my location) when I decided to try this first- very glad I did. I get all my local digital stations (all transmitters are within 20 miles or so), with only one of them coming in weak (occasional pixellating and sound glitches). Not ideal, but 100% better than my analog reception. It is a little fussy with placement- the directions say that flat installation is preferred, but mine works better hung high on the wall. It looks a little strange, sort of like a floating laptop hovering on the wall, but it sure beats paying those crooks at the cable company.

About the video: watching the Patriots game in crystal clear HD with this product. I show the antenna too, which is super small. Plan on mounting it, just haven't gotten around to it.

In terms of setup, it couldn't be simpler. What you see in the video is what you get. The small, flat box that is the antenna with a short coax cable coming out. Once plugged into my TV, I simply had to do an auto channel scan which reveal about 25 channels in my area (currently in Newton, MA). I got the big 4 networks, plus channels like PBS and Azteca.

I see some people complaining about not picking up stations they want with this cheap antenna. Guess what, if you live in the middle of nowhere 50 miles from the nearest tower, you aren't going to pick up channels with this product. Not the products fault though; people should read the product description and 5 minutes of google research. Use a tool like URL fool to determine how close you are to the TV towers in your area and then make sure to put the antenna close to the window. I'm about 5 miles from my tower and have the antenna a few feet from the window; the video shows the result: the Pats game in HD FOR FREE. That's what I call value.

All in all, this is a fabulous product for the relatively cheap price. This gives me the big 4 in HD for free; my PS3 gives me Netflix with tons of options for a relatively cheap price. Who needs cable?

I bought this to try and replace the rabbit ears I had. This is supposed the be a 360 antenna, but you can't just set it somewhere and it'll work. And good luck mounting it in a spot that it'll work in. I can only imagine. I set it and stood it every place on my entertainment center, and got less channels than I got before.

We live in a large metropolitan area, but find ourselves in some kind of television signal vacuum. Signal strength is maddeningly spotty and fussy. Any and all kind of weather kills the signal: wind, rain.... Weirdly, perfectly clear days are the worst! Having a regional airport less than a mile away doesn't help either. We don't have cable service, so deciding to tune in was a catch as catch can endeavor. Before transitioning to digital, we'd have some trouble getting a clear picture now and then, but at the very least, there was always sound. With the digital format, signal trouble means a completely blank, silent screen. Maddening! We've tried everything short of attaching an ugly, bulky antenna to the roof.

Just for laughs, I thought we could try this. It works!!! Since installing this little gem, it's been tested by everything a midwestern winter and springtime can throw at it, and has exceeded our fondest hopes! Instead of attaching the unit to the wall, we have it placed on the tv stand. On the rare occasions there is signal distortion, we slide the antenna a few inches left or right, and the signal is perfectly restored. We've had an unusual number of clear, windless days this spring, which would normally render tuning in impossible (why is that?? Any meteorologists reading this who could explain that?), but with this antenna, we've had no problems getting a consistent, clear signal. So happy with the color of the antenna, too.
I opted to buy the antenna model without the signal boost, fully expecting to be returning it and purchasing the model with the signal boost. But this multidirectional model without the signal boost has worked beautifully.
