After playing many, many HOGs it was a pleasure to find a truly unique twist to the genre. Rather than straight-forward HOG or HOG with the usual mini-games thrown in and some kind of story, in Pickers you not only look for items in various locations, you get to haggle over prices of items you wish to buy (singly or in bundles), decide your selling price, bargain with potential buyers in your shop, even auction your items off to see if you made a good investment. To make it even more fun, you can "match up" 2 items that may be in the same location or different ones to create a new item that is worth more on the open market (match a lamp shade with a lamp base, for example, and sell the completed item for more than the sum of the parts). And finally - there are 3 "hot buys" to be considered each time you go out on a buying trip. If you find items in those categories, you earn more. Because the "hot buys" come up in different order for each game, and because you determine (to some extent) what you pay for items and what you earn for them, the shelf life of this game is impressive. There are nearly endless combinations of outcomes possible, depending on the decisions you make along the way. There is challenge enough here even for experienced HOG players, although those who have been at it awhile, and who catch on to this game's secrets quickly, will find even the "Expert" mode conquerable after a few rounds. There were no technical problems on my Windows7 system. I highly recommend this game, especially for anyone who enjoys HOGs but would like a break from the usual HOG-story-minigames style of play. Can't wait for Pickers 2!!

I was horribly addicted to this game for several weeks.
Honestly, I think it's HOG's in existence and I'm sorry I didn't find it sooner.
You're given different locations to search in - and each one is stronger in certain areas than others. Then, you're given "themes" - such as Vintage Electronics. The more items you get that fit that category, the better chance you have of making more money. You can also connect items together to make even MORE money - like pairing an antenna up with an old-time TV.
Once you find all of your picks - and haggle with the property owners - you get to take everything back to the shop and either list it for sale (where the potential buyers will haggle with you) or list it for auction. It's fun to see what sells in the shop and what goes for crazy amounts of money in the auction.
I did find the game to be a little repetitive after I learned what was where - didn't take too long to figure that out. Upping the difficulty of the game helped spice things up a little.
I can see me pulling this out every few months to play...I do wonder if the American Pickers show is getting any sort of kick-back because this game seems to be a bit stolen from the TV show's premise - down to the vehicle they drive.

This was one of the most interesting hidden object games I've played... I haven't played very many, because to me they are all exactly alike. But this one has a bit of a twist to it. You have parts where you can take objects as you want them, you don't have to follow a list. Then you have parts where you do have to follow a list. You also have items that require other items to make more money... for example, you could buy a slot machine but it is missing a handle, so if you find the handle and repair the machine you will make more money when you go to sell it.
At the end of each workday in the game, you take the stuff that you choose yourself and sell it in your shop at a price of your choosing. And of course the object is to make the biggest profit, you compete against other companies that are played by the computer.
Definitely a new twist to hidden object games.

A perfect casual game: easy learning curve, interesting throughout, good graphics . . . fun, fun, fun. Couldn't stop playing from trial all the way to end of first game. Have already started second game. If you like American Pickers and/or Antiques Roadshow plus hidden objects games THIS is for you. UPDATE 5/13: after playing for months I still love this game. You get a feel for the 'personality' of the different locations, how to haggle better and keep finding things missed previously. A must buy HO game!

As a huge fan of "American Pickers," it was great fun to try your hand at what they do every day (minus the dirt, climbing over junk, and long days on the road).
You have to balance getting your best deal with keeping your sellers happy to get access to more sites. You have to choose between quick money with an auction (auctioneer keeps 20%) or trying to set your own price (to high, slow sale, too low, fast sale - lose money). If you do not make sales, you have no money to go out and buy things.
Even getting appraisals had a realistic price and consequences. An appraisal while haggling could lower. or RAISE the price the seller would go for, so that was a gamble. Also neat was that several items were "incomplete" and needed a part that was not available at the same seller. If you found the part and matched them up, your profits went way up. There were pros and cons to restoring items before selling. So many decisions were right in line with what a real "picker" would have to do to be successful.
I would love to see a sequel. perhaps with more locations and some way to incorporate the travel and shipping costs (larger items) into the scenarios.

This is the best game ever. PLEASE give us a Pickers 2! I have played this game countless times. It's always different. For all my games, I turn off the music (sorry) because I love the ambient sound so much. There is a real strategy to this game and the hidden object mini-games are fun. I loved finding all the keys, locating the items that are going to bring me the highest profit, and making the sellers happy, too. The auctioneer is a little annoying (I pop out the ear buds at that point or skip). It's fun, it's different, it's rewarding...all while being relaxing. You'll enjoy it.

The items are nicely scattered but you can cheat by just clicking around. I kind of wish it had a little more depth to it but it's fine how it is.
This game is very easy to beat, but it gets more fun each time because you gain experience on what items to buy and how to find pairs. Very super fun, we play over and over again.Read more
Great Game, enjoy playing it when i'm trying to relax or just have some time to kill. Better than I expected from a hide and seek game.
Interesting game, would like additional site choices after the first few times of replay. I got to the point where I memorized the items in each of the sites which reduced my...Read more
