I'm not familiar with oil pastels, I normally use soft pastels. I'm exploring the possibility of using these oil pastels as a sketch medium. They are not dusty like soft pastels and they layer and blend well so they are more portable. I am quite happy with these, but that's my first experience with oil pastels so I can't compare to another brand. Nice range of colors and the wooden box is great for storage.

These are the work force of pastels. They never let me down. Not too soft and not too hard. They blend well and can be used on a lot of different paper and surfaces. 72 is perfect for me. The only complaint is the white could be more opaque.

There are a couple of different kinds of pastels. These are soft, luscious oil pastels with a paper wrap on each. They are a nice size and are packaged beautifully. There was no breakage in any of the pastels.
There are also soft pastels, which these are not. Soft pastels are a different product, and are made from a binding of clay and chalk. While these are very soft, pastels in the lower cost range are quite hard and chalky. Expensive soft pastels by unison, Sennelier and others are shorter, wider, and range from chalky to lipstick-like, but none contain oil.
This is a great oil pastel set for a beginner, which I consider myself to be. They are great fun and worked beautifully on plain or watercolor paper.

In the spectrum of softness from student grade Pentel oil pastel to artist grade, the softness of Mungyo definitely buttery. The pastels glide on paper smoothly and layers well.

Compared to Paul Reuben, Mungyo is a bit less soft. The Paul Reuben is lipstick-level soft, which can’t handle more than 3 layers. I don’t find it hard add multiple layers for the Mungyo at all. Both brands are very nice, just up to the person to judge what they prefer.

Recommended! I wish it’s available for open stock since I might run out some colors faster than the others.

A great middle ground between DOMS (15 dollars) and Sennelier (expensive)

These are so nice and they come in a really awesome wooden case. The case is sturdy and portable. Throw it in a bag and go without worrying your pastels will be all over the place. The texture is creamy and the colors are excellent with a large selection of different shades. I did find that some colors got muddy as I layered but that may be just me not knowing what I am doing. I have a set of really cheap DOMS (which I love but they are not creamy at all) and a set of 25 Sennelier. These are not Sennelier grade in either creaminess or color saturation but they ARE a good alternative if you don't want to spend the cash for the Sennelier. I am very happy with them and I use all three sometimes when I art. You won't regret it.
