Vengeful souls don’t stay dead
They taunt the minds of the living until they throw themselves from clifftops.
Yet death turns a profit when you drive ships onto rocks to plunder riches.
Agatha knows one thing for sure: respect the dead.
Especially those who did not die quietly.
Now, a lonely witch has conjured a young sailor’s soul.
And woken them all.
Only Agatha knows the truth.
She hears it in the whispers drifting across the waves.
She hears it in the crackle of the flames.
And the marauders will stop at nothing to silence her.
Shh … Listen …
The Dead Are Coming …

About the author

Genre-hopping introvert and word witch living somewhere between the forest and the sea in East Devon, UK.
Jeannie finds inspiration everywhere: myths, stories and songs, people watching, a word here, a look there, but mainly in the landscape. Devon has it all - rocky coast, pebble and sandy beaches, winding lanes and picture perfect cottages, cliffs and forest.
A good day for Jeannie means a blustery wind, racing waves and salty rain. She lives with her husband and two dogs, make a lot of soup, plays too many computer games and loves watching movies.

I cannot recommend this, (& all Jeannie Wycherley's excellent books) highly enough..

I read this in a day (awake until the early hours to finish it). Descriptions of the town made me feel as though as I was there, watching the story unfold, feeling the chill of a stormy night, watching the horror of a ship ‘wrecking’ and being destroyed by the elements. Differences in the class system shown through the hard lives and the losses of those battling to make a living in a fishing town and the expectations of women from different social standings are touched upon but not overly so. Definitely one to read on a rainy afternoon (lots in England!).
