New Zealand-born cartoonist Roger Langridge (1967-) has been producing comics for over twenty years. Works of note include the Harvey Award-winning MUPPET SHOW COMIC BOOK and THOR: THE MIGHTY AVENGER; other works include his own self-published title FRED THE CLOWN, which was nominated for a number of Harvey and Eisner awards back when he was young and beautiful, and the Eisner Award-winning Lewis Carroll-inspired series, SNARKED!. Langridge lives in London with his wife, two children and a box full of his own hair.

Great stuff for the family

I love this guy's stuff! The comic is a perfect continuation of the TV show. My wife and I are huge fans of The Muppet Show from way back, and now we have our son watching the old shows and reading the new comics. (He's only 8 months old, but he still thinks it's funny)

Fun and whimsical, this one has a complete storyline

Robert Langridge’s take on the cultural iconography of the Muppets in the form of collected comics in hardback graphic novel form is a lot of fun. This review covers both of the books that I read with my two-year-old at bedtime. The Muppet Show collection tells the story of each of the main Muppets in a variety of separate tales, while also bringing in the original sidetracks of the dance scenes, the houses, veterinarian hospital, and pics in space. Peg Leg WIlson is a bit different as it is a linear story divided into the issues I presume they originally appeared in. Both were beautifully and hilariously illustrated and a great deal of fun to read. Langridge is a sharp and witty illustrator who captures the exciting whimsy, confusion, attention-deficitness of the opening number and everything that follows in a typical episode. While there are many in-joke winks for die-hard fans such as myself to recognize and laugh at, my two-year-old was just as engaged in the piece (in fact more than the television show if that is possible) as a new fan. A perfect bedtime read that kept us both happy, I really enjoyed these books. One side note: at the back of The Muppet Show, Langridge has a separate section in a separate style that he produced for Disney Comics, and I really enjoyed the style that he drew the characters in in that version. I am wondering if it wouldn’t be cool for someone to make an anthology of different artists taking on the Muppets telling different canonical side stories – I love comics anthologies like that. Regardless, these are well worth the read and a lot of fun for old and new fans alike.

My children have really enjoyed this series. Langridge has an amazing ability to craft 1-2 page gags while weaving a narrative arc. His art is perfect for this book and succeeds at selling the most outlandish stuff. I did have some trouble getting into the rhythm of the stories. It didn't feel like all the pieces fit together evenly or fluidly. But my children didn't care, and I still marvel at Langridge's talent. Maybe not GREAT comics but satisfying.

Roger Landridge does it again, this series just gets better & better. Love it, as well as the extra stories peppered though the comic, & the cover gallery in the back, Scooter finds a treasure map while tidying up & works out that there's actual treasure hidden somewhere in the theatre, ah but Rizzo the Rat overhears & he will tear the whole place down if he has to. You see Animal like you've never seen him before, I mean he's well mannered & courteous & oh my goodness subsevient!!!. There must be something in the water because Kermit all of a sudden is too cool for school, donning leather jacket & dark shades.

As usual chocca block of madness, for me the muppets make me nostalgic, they also have got under my kids skin too, brilliant....
