I love the Muppets and I love this game. Years later and still play it. You can't help but laugh at the lovable characters.

I Love the Muppets ! And I thought my neice who is 4 might enjoy playing this game since she usually plays my GBA when I come over to visit. I played this game and found it fun and funny at first but after finishing the game in less than an hour. I found it boring bcuz all the levels just repeat itself just at a fast pace. I agree with all the previous reviews that this game is definitely more suited for younger gamers like 3-7 yrs. old. I wouldn't say I regret purchasing this game but it's a game that I would probably consider trading in for money to buy something better. Only thing that I don't regret about buying this game is when I purchased the game there was a table full of games and accessories where when I bought this game I got to pick something off the table of equal or lesser value for FREE. I bought this Muppets game and got a Free Gamecube game to boot so that's the only thing that makes this worthy.

I am a HUGE Muppet fan, having just been to MGM Studios to buy out all the Muppet merchandise they had, and was beside myself when I saw this game was coming out, especially since I recently received the GBA as a gift. I bought it the first day it was out in stores, took it right home...and was just flat out disappointed.
This is a game that is really 6 mini-games. They each have a very short storyline behind them...first, you are Kermit trying to sing a song from a boat while various other Muppets go back and forth on the pond...your mission is to avoid them until your song is complete. Of course, Miss Piggy wants to have the spotlight, so avoiding her is your main concern. Next, you are the Swedish Chef trying to put a culinary creation together while rats try to steal your ingredients. You go back and forth with a pan swatting them away while watching for a chicken who sometimes pops up to throw eggs at you. In another game, you are Gonzo on a little cart trying to hit a certain amount of targets on a race-track type course. Another game has you as Animal, trying to duplicate a beat by hitting the A & B buttons at the appropriate time. Yet another game has you playing as Beaker, trying to take unwanted items off an assembly line that is supposed to be delivering key ingredients to help fuel one of Dr. Bunsen Honeydew's machines. All the while, Statler & Waldorf are there to make their amusingly snide comments between every mini-game.
The games are kind of cute, but they get boring very quickly...I had beaten them all in about 20 minutes. If they were just side games as a part of a larger game, it might have been nice...but really, there is so little to this game, I would be stunned if it had a shelf life of more than an hour for most. Clearly, it is focused at very young children, and they may well get more entertainment out of it than I did, but for anyone older than 8 or 9, it's really not worth it. The sound is not even that good...you get some very digital-sound songs (i.e. Swedish Chef's "Bork Bork Bork" tune & some seemingly new songs...not even a good Muppet Theme Song) and the Statler & Waldorf laughing...nothing really memorable aside from that. I REALLY wanted to love this game, and I don't hate it, it was just ridiculously short & shallow. You might do better to wait until this one hits the bargain bins.

Unfortunately, Muppets: On With The Show offers very little beyond good looking sprites. The six mini-games are great at capturing that Muppet feel, but they don't do anything with it. Each mini-game only lasts about 3-4 minutes, but do you really want to bash rats on the head witha frying pan for that long? And after you do it what's next? How about pushing the A or B button for 3-4 minutes in time to music? The Payoff? A Heckle from Statler and Waldorf. Hardly something I want to work towards. If these mini-games were part of a larger adventure they'd be enjoyable, but as the main dish, they're just unappetizing. A lot more substance and variety is needed.
Younger gamers (ages 4-7) will probaly enjoy this game quite a bit since it has easy controls, is repettitive and the characters are appealing. But any long time Muppet fan will be sorely disappointed with this offering. Hopefully, they'll gett it right next time.
