The situation Juliette finds herself in is unusual and promised both fun and conflict. That promise was kept, in well-written and fast-moving prose, describing the goings-on in a country manor, when several high-born young ladies and their chaperones are invited for a two-week stay so that the heir to the estate may choose a suitable bride. We soon discover that the heir doesn't want a bride, though his younger brother may. And then a body is discovered and the constable says it's murder.
The mystery, as well as the developing romances, are well-handled. I didn't guess who the culprit was until very late in the story. The book is a page-turner!
