I voluntarily received a copy of this book from the author and I'm voluntarily posting a review. My opinion is entirely my own.
This is the first book I have read by the author. I was pleasantly surprised. The book was a fast read and kept my attention. Diane Dimbleby, a retired teacher and mystery writer, goes to her nephews wedding. She stays at a chalet close to the church where the wedding was going to be held. The morning after the wedding Diane decides to take a walk on the beach. She sees a beach umbrella rolling towards the ocean and grabs it. As she is putting it back the owner of the umbrella berates her for touching the umbrella. The next morning Diane reads that the man who scolded her the day before had been murdered. Diane becomes a suspect as her prints are the only ones found on the umbrella. It looks like someone is trying to set her up.
It’s up to Diane to clear her name.
If you’re looking for a nice, clean mystery with no sex or profanity this book is for you. I thoroughly enjoyed the book so much that I will be reading the rest of the series.

Diane leaves her beloved Apple Mews to attend her nephew's
wedding in a much larger town, Plymouth in Devon. Little does
she know her brief trip will be extended after she unwittingly
becomes involved in a murder. The saying "no good deed
goes unpunished" certainly fits the situation in which
she soon finds herself. A man is murdered on a beach near the
chalet where's Diane is staying. The day before she prevented his
expensive umbrella from being blown into the water. However,
that kind gesture leads to her being considered the primary
suspect in the crime! Instead of enjoying the brief holiday, Diane
finds herself struggling to prove her innocence. Murder on the
Beach is an entertaining story with surprising outcome.
