In the past, she has been involved in the investigation of two murders in the small town where she lives.
She has a relationship with Brett, a state police detective. Their relationship is getting more involved. In fact, she has spent some vacation time with Brett and his daughter, so they can become acquainted.
Now they have returned home and there has been a murder.
The victim is unknown to Sher. But, a friend who is a waitress at her favorite restaurant in town has been arrested for his murder. It appears that they were married at one time.
The plot is an interesting one, but I did feel there were a lot of descriptions thrown in as filler.
The leading characters are well developed. The secondary characters not so much.
This is a mystery and there are many suspects and motives presented to the reader. It is pretty evident that the victim was not someone who was a well liked part of society.
I wanted to like this story. I believe I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the first two books in the series. At times, I felt a little lost.
This is the first book written by Ms Nardi which I have read. She is very good at developing interesting plots.
Dr. Henley, and attorney Marty Cohn take the lead in investigating this latest crime.
A very enjoyable read.
I enjoyed watching Sheridan solve the mystery, even at a personal cost to herself, and I liked seeing how her relationship with Brett is coming along. This is a “clean” cozy mystery – usually that phrase makes me run screaming in the other direction from a book, but what I mean here is, there’s not a lot of gore or sex. Don’t get me wrong, I expect my characters to get busy, I just don’t need to know where, when, what positon and how many times. And I like enough details of the crime to get a sense of what’s happening, but not enough to make me regret reading the book while I eat. This story satisfies on both counts. Sheridan is not a foolhardy character, but she has a strong sense of right and wrong, and plus, I think she just likes to know things. The characters are complex, the plots hold my interest, and the writing style is enjoyable.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this story, with the understanding I would give an honest review. I liked it enough that I bought a real copy to add to my virtual shelves.
