Arriving to total disarray at the hotel, then learning of the murder of one of the guests, and being asked by her hosts to help investigate the murder, is not quite what Diane expectd this holiday to be. Then she is allowed to see the body, with such a look of fright on his face that it is evident that he was literally frightened to death. The room that he died in - his room - has been absolutely shredded by some animal, yet there are no marks on the body.
An illicet affair, a disappearing bird cage (that mysteriously reappears after the murder), the fact that the victim is a veternerian that is afraid of some animals (deathly afraid!), and threats sent to an animal behavior studies company (that it turn out the victim worked for) all add to the twists and turns in this fast moving story!
Very well written, solid characters, and a nice, quick pace. I look forward to reading other books in this series!
I was pleased to read an advance copy of this book.
In this latest escapade, Diane manages to set her sleuthing skills to work on a tangled mystery involving multiple business and marital betrayals, give us some awesome descriptions of the Isle of Skye, and get in some writing - that is the fictional author is busy sleuthing as well as writing.
I always enjoy the colorful characters, as well as Diane's wry sense of humor.
If you enjoy a classic Christie style mystery with a bit of modern flair and technology, this could be your next murder mystery.
