Having quit the Met Police in search of something less dangerous, the change of pace means she can finally start her dream catering company and raise her daughter, Daisy, somewhere safer.
But there’s nothing quite like having your first job back at home be catering an ex-boyfriend’s wedding to remind you of just how small your village is. And when the bride vanishes, Jodie is drawn into the investigation, realising that life in the countryside might not be as quaint as she remembers.
With a missing bride on their hands, murder and mayhem lurks around every corner…
But surely saving the day will be a piece of cake for this not-so-amateur sleuth?

About the Author
Fiona Leitch is a novelist and screenwriter with a chequered past. She’s written for footballing and motoring magazines, childbirth videos and mail order catalogues; DJ’ed at illegal raves in London, been told off by a children's TV presenter during a studio debate; and was the Australasian face of a series of TV commercials for a cleaning product. All of which has given her a thorough grounding in the ridiculous, and helped her to write funny stuff.

This one is no exception. In the first installment of Fiona Leitch’s new series, Jodie “Nosey” Parker has made her way back to her small, Cornish hometown after a nasty divorce a major career change from police officer to caterer. Fortunately for the reader, once the bride has gone missing at her first event, and an uninvited guest is found dead at the scene, Jodie can’t help but find herself wanting to investigate. If only there wasn’t a handsome new officer in town trying to stop her and her other nosey pals from trying to reveal the murderer.
This cozy mystery keeps its readers guessing the entire time! There are more twists and turns in this book than roads in the English Countryside. While reading through the mystery, there is also a fun start to a love triangle.
However, it is very obvious at points that this is very much Book #1, and subplots will not be resolved any time soon. Though there is a satisfying end to the mystery, everything else is left open for a second and third novel. While it’s important to leave those reading wanting to come back, it almost felt like heading back to the complete beginning of the story.
Although I enjoyed the beginning of Jodie Parker’s story, I haven’t decided if I’m hungry for more. Perhaps I just need to let this meal settle before deciding.
Thank you to NetGalley US and the publisher for providing me with an ARC copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. This review is rounded up, from a 3.5.
The next morning, Jodie is busy getting the food ready for the wedding reception when two unexpected things happen. The ex-wife is found dead on the grounds of the venue and the bride is missing. Even though Josie is a caterer now and no longer in law enforcement, she gets drawn into the case. Although the local law enforcement say that they want her to stay out of it, she actually proves very helpful to them. This is a fun book that I highly recommend,
Jodie aka Nosey is a former detective and current caterer who has been hired to cater her former high school boyfriends wedding. During the rehearsal pre celebration dinner a fight breaks out then later that night a death occurs and someone goes missing. And Jody becomes what she is known for. . .Nosiness! DCI Withers, who is on the case is fully annoyed with Jodie being involved but he cannot deny that she has some good insight. And when Withers accepts Jodie's help they are able to crack the case wide open. . .but not before innocent parties are put at risk.
This was a delightful read from start to finish. Jodie is the type of cozy mystery protagonist that you just can't help but cheer for, plus the lovable cast of characters present make it extremely difficult to put this book down.
