During the late spring Shakespeare Festival, Hazel and her cat had to investigate the murder of a famous actor who was in their Macbeth play. The man wasn't liked too well as a person since he was a drunk and a womanizer so there was no shortage of suspects that Hazel and Colton had to sift through to find the right person. Could they find this killer before he or she decided to strike again?
I think this is my favorite book so far. The Shakespeare Festival was fun picturing Michael and Hazel's dad dressed in period clothing running her booth while she attended to what the festival committee hired her for, taking pictures. Being on her best terms ever so far with Colton Cross gave her the advantage of being able to look into things, although I think it's nice when she thinks to ask him before she does something.
I doubt the character of Darcy Allen will stay around but I couldn't help feeling sorry for this boy and wishing maybe he could put in an appearance in the future since he does go to Violet's high school. Violet acted like she couldn't stand him but he really wasn't so bad, just misunderstood and lacking the love that needed to come from his constantly bickering parents. It might be fun if he popped into the scene every so often. I think if Violet gave him a chance, he might turn out to be a good friend. He never got into trouble and all he seemed to want to do was please someone.
I didn't quite guess the killer this time. I wasn't too surprised at who it was but I wouldn't have had any idea about the complete reasoning. Anthony Ray didn't get to find a body this time but the cat still proved that he knew things of interest or didn't like certain people. I'm glad I don't have to wait too long for the next book to come out. I've pre-ordered and it comes out in early June.

Hazel has been asked to be the official photographer for the Shakespeare festival, It's an unexpected honor as her father, an award winning photographer himself for National Geographic is the usual person to record the events.
This year they are putting on Macbeth, (or the Scottish Play) to avoid the curse. They have brought in an acclaimed actor and his wife for the lead roles. The lead actor is killed onstage, and his wife also is injured in a later play.
It's up to Hazel to find the killer or even more lives will be at stake.
Another fun and well written story that is fast paced. There's lots of humor and several twist that keeps the final reveal a successful surprise.
I really enjoyed this book. Plenty of schemes, sidetracks, & murder. I enjoyed how the author had me leaning towards 1 suspect & then another, & another. I like that.
Hazel Hart is the official photographer for the Cedar Valley Shakesperian Festival. With her camera always there, she has all access both in front of and behind the stage. When the lead actor is killed during the play McBeth, she catches it all on film! So who done it? Read &find out.
I have to say that the author has peaked my interest in her other books! I recommend this book to all readers who enjoy a good cozy, clean mystery.
Hazel Hart has been hired to take photographs during performances at the annual Shakespearean Festival. On the night of the first performance of Macbeth, the lead actor is killed on stage. Hazel begins to investigate with the blessing of the Sheriff. As they run separate investigations the question is who will uncover the killer in their midst.
