Stacey is a romance author an award winning author who puts so much into her stories she goes to great lengths to make sure that everything works the way it should she is a fun person but does not date due to her past and she has a bit to get over she will never be pushed around again all her pets are just the best Midnight and Cuddles but when she contacts detective Durant for some help with her story well let’s just say that life as Stacey knows it is going to be turned completely upside down and murders are taking place that seem very close to her stories.
Chase loves his job and is doing everything he can to catch the serial killer who is lose in the city of Melbourne but there are a lot of similarities with these murders to MS Holland’s stories and he aims to find out what is going one needless to say that brings them very close together and then the killer is out to get them both talk about edge of your seat. Chase feels the spark between him and Stacey but Chase has a few worries that hold him back and of course Stacey doesn’t date where is this journey to catch a killer going to lead them?
This story has everything that a fabulous romantic suspense should have with a dose of humour thrown in as well I loved Stacey and Chase and their sensual partnership as they do what they can to catch a sadistic psychopath, they both have so much going on with their lives and MS Somers has bought them and their feelings to life on the pages you will be cheering them on and yelling when danger Is near. We met Chase in MS Somers first book Lethal in Love and it was great seeing him get his HEA with just the right person for him in Stacey author extraordinaire. Thank you MS Somers for a fabulous story.
Stacey Holland is one cool heroine who writes crime thrillers and enacts the crimes she writes about. Chase Durant is one hot detective looking for a serial killer. When Stacey meets Chase from that moment on their banter is a scream - I had some majorly good laughs. It wasn't all smooth sailing and each with their own problems kept them from getting too close but it was hard to miss the attraction that was bubbling between them.
Fantastic central characters and a fab romance that the readers will fall in love with.
Ooh, I adored Stacey's friend Shazz - a great friend to have in your corner.
Romance novelist Stacey Holland hides herself away in her own fictional world, writing romantic crime, no less. She enjoys having the control to create happily-ever-after endings in her novels, something she doesn't feel she can do in her own life. In her personal life, Stacey has been burned and therefore no longer believes in real love. It seems despite her troubles in love, Stacey is comfortable with life, that is, until a killer "breathes Stacey's gruesome murders to life". She is tossed into a real world of lies and murders. With the help of a detective named Chase Durant, Stacey struggles to catch the killer before the killer gets to both of them.
Michelle Somers writes an intriguing story in Murder Most Unusual. If you enjoy murder mysteries with a mix of humor and romance, pick up her book as your next read!
*Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book from the author, in exchange for an honest review.
However compared to the first book I was a little disappointed. Chase as a character for instance, behaved in ways that didn't really make sense for a police officer and a good one, an impression gained in the first novel. Stacey showed very little regard for police procedures and Chase's position. I know it was meant to add to the tension between the leads and appreciate that. The crime however was murder, a particularly nasty murder and at times the continual misunderstandings between Chase and Stacey slowed the pace down.
Over all the novel had a good degree of hotness and humour, and some great dialogue. The author has real style and talent and I look forward to what may come next.
