About the Author

I was born and raised in Wisconsin, but think I’m a European. After spending my senior year of high school in Germany, I developed a bad case of wanderlust that is yet to be cured. My flying Dutch husband and I have lived in Ohio, Virginia, the Netherlands, Germany and now Istanbul. We still haven’t decided if we want to settle down somewhere – let alone where. Although I’ve been a military policewoman, a commercial lawyer, and a B&B owner, I think with writing I may have finally figured out what I want to be when I grow up. That’s assuming I ever grow up, of course. Between tennis, running, traveling, singing off tune, drinking entirely too many adult beverages, and reading books like they are going out of style, I write articles for a local expat magazine and various websites, review other indie authors’ books, write a blog about whatever comes to mind and am working on my fifth book.

Izzy is a graphic designer, widowed, and not exactly a dating guru - in fact the man she was married to was the only one she'd ever dated. Her best friend, Jack decides it is time for an intervention and off to a speed dating event she goes. That's "dating" with a capital D for "disaster" though she does chat up some guy at the bar before the fiasco. Little does she know that Jack also found him attractive, but the detective only has eyes for Izzy.

In the meantime, Izzy's "adopted" grandma dies. At first it seems like a natural death, but Betty and the other blue-white haired ladies are sure it was murder. The senior set, with Betty in the lead is dead set on finding out who murdered grandma. Jack joins in and drags Izzy who has doubts but wants to see justice served. In the meantime the detective of course insists that he's her man and she is going to be safe!

This is a clean read with humorous moments. The whodunit plays out at a steady pace punctuated with the growing romance and dating woes of Izzy. Some parts are predictable, but the villain isn't identified until the end. All in all, it was a light fun read.

Remember when I wrote about "Love in Time of Murder"? I really did like that book. I liked it so much I bought the first part of the series as soon as I finished reading that one. And here it is :). The first story of the series about the amazing Knitting Detectives!

I'm usually trying to avoid Goodreads blurbs in book reviews, but, in this case, I simply have to include it because I know I won't do better. Well, that's just a sample of what the book contains!

This story is filled with loveable characters, cute romance and a bit of a mystery that needs solving. After all, you Izzy can't possibly be a killer, right? Plus there's this handsome detective trying to date her. Oooh, you have to read about their first date!

I loved that each chapter was "titled" with a song - name + singer/band. It not only gave the idea of what it will be about but also gave you something to listen to while reading :P. Not that I did that since I don't usually listen to music while reading + I do most of my reading away from home and mobile internet isn't cheap :P... but I could, plus you can check out the songs after or before reading the book. All I want to say is that I liked that idea :D.

This is the first book that makes you fall in love with the Knitting detectives. This bunch of old ladies won't let you get bored. They're curious, energetic and they won't give up. The ideas they have are almost crazy (who would think they'd want to play thieves in the middle of the night!).

Yes, there are many fantastic moments in this book. Some will make you laugh, some will even scare you (just a bit) it all makes the whole reading experience enjoyable. Simply perfect cozy mystery.

Have you read any of D.E. Haggerty's books yet? You should!

D.E. Haggerty’s main character, Izzy, is an admittedly heavy drinker who is “clumsier than a newborn foal” and has a brain-to-mouth filter that “often malfunctions.” This makes her an absolutely hilarious character who is ready and willing to chase down the truth about her adopted grandmother’s death. Unfortunately, the only cohorts she has in this pursuit of justice are a geriatric knitting group of Jessica Fletcher wannabes and Izzy’s gay best friend who just wants to see Izzy jump back into the dating scene.

Haggerty’s style of writing is engaging and witty, and “Murder, Mystery, and Dating Mayhem” continues that tradition. What really sets this book apart from the genre is not just the vivid descriptions and hilarious back-and-forth dialogues but the cast of characters. You just wouldn’t expect to see these folks trying to run a murderer to ground, but there they are, walkers and canes in hand, aiming to bring justice to light.

This book is a wonderful read, and I’d definitely recommend it to anybody looking for a good, funny whodunit book that rivals the likes of Agatha Christie.

Wow this book was a lot of fun to read. The characters are a hoot!! I love Izzy quirky attitude and the way she thinks, she is strong willed and does what she wants to do. She has her Gay BFF who looks after her, trying to find her the right man. Takes her to speed dating, not something she wants to do. She meets Noel, a police detective and goes on a date, well if you would call it that, embarrassing. You of course will have to read the book to find out what happened. She has a really awesome Grandma, by marriage, her first husband’s Grandma and well Izzy and she got a long great until she dies. Everyone thinks it is a heart attack. Izzy doesn’t fall for that, she knows something is up, but no one believes her. So she starts snooping around with Grandma’s friends to find out what happened.
Great story, reads to me like a cozy mystery, if you love cozy mysteries then you will love this book. The characters were fun and interesting. Lots of interesting things happen to Izzy, she has to find out the truth.
I did received this book for an honest review from Book Enthusiast Promotions
