Murder in Noir is the third book in this funny off the wall paranormal series. To be honest, I just binge read this series and I already miss these fun quirky characters. Max and Brad are best friends. They are roommates. They work together in a bar/restaurant where they are treated by the owners like family. They are both struggling actors trying to get their big break on Broadway. Max is gay and Brad is very straight. Masie is an amazing woman who at the height of her career as a star in burlesque was murdered at the Cassandra Theater now she is a ghost who enjoys leading her two boys, Max and Brad on adventures trying to solve murders. The plot of the third book has Max and Brad on the verge of finally getting their shot on Broadway. Being cast in the revival of a 40’s play with famous stars Barrett Conover and his wife Europa, Brad and Max are well on their way to Broadway fame until Masie persuades them to look into the unsolved murders of two of the cast members in the original production of the play back in 1948. If that isn’t enough they stumble upon a blackmail scheme involving their fellow cast members. Going undercover again puts them in danger. Poor Brad once again finds himself tied up in an awkward position. They need to find out who is behind the blackmail before it is too late and another cast member meets an untimely death. The chemistry has been dialed up a little as the relationships between Max and Liam and Masie and Stan continue. Yes, you read that right. Masie the ghost and Stan are a couple. Like the other two books in the series, this story is full of action and reads at a fast pace. Again this book has a definitive ending, but I am hoping that there is more in store for these three amateur detectives. I am eagerly waiting for the fourth book Murder in Leathers. Throughout all three books, we see strong character development. I hope that we will be able to see how things turn out for Masie and Stan. I also hope that Brad finds a woman that he can find love with.
