While much money made at Daisy’s Tea Garden comes from tourists visiting her shop located in Amish country, Daisy Swanson also does catering. An upcoming event will be held at the Willow Creek High School from where she graduated, as its teachers are to be honored. One of those teaching is a woman who taught when she was there, and Althea Higgins comes to speak with her right before the day of the meal. The English teacher is just as narrow-minded as she was in the past, and she lets Daisy know her opinion about a subject without holding back any words. The day of the appreciation observance arrives and all goes well with the food served, yet for some reason Althea leaves abruptly after being on the phone. But when Daisy needs to check on a potential problem, she inadvertently becomes tangled up in a police investigation when the reason for the teacher not returning turns out to be that she had been murdered.
I have been thoroughly enjoying this cozy mystery series, as its characters are very true-to-life while any crimes committed also seem convincing. The daily ups and downs in the life of Daisy plus those around her are portrayed with believable situations. The events are always filled with displays of genuine emotion by those being affected, and their reactions let me know exactly how they felt about the circumstances. When a happening in this book deals with the murder of Althea, the moment might give me insight into what really took place or it could only add to my puzzlement, especially when I learned about someone with a motive. MURDER WITH OOLONG TEA mentions food a lot, and I was glad that recipes for some of my favorites were at the end of the story.
Many people, co-workers and students alike, did not like Althea for her continuous criticism of everything from dress codes to wearing too much perfume. But as Daisy investigates she is hearing conflicting statements as to what Althea was really like. What made her go from a caring teacher and co-worker to a bitter, unhappy woman? With so many people who are unhappy with Althea, the suspect list is a long one.
In the midst of this, Jazzi is wanting her friend, Brielle, to stay with them during spring break and the week after as her attorney parents are at a conference in Europe. All goes well until the day Daisy gets a phone call that has her running out of the tea house to go pick up Jazzi and Brielle. If that isn't enough, tensions between Daisy and Jonas are high.
Ultimately, Daisy pieces together the clues to the puzzle to solve the murder before anyone else becomes a victim.
If you like a good, entertaining cozy with no swearing, this series is for you. This series also features mouth watering recipes . I can say I have never been disappointed with this series and I really enjoy them and look forward to more.
Please note that I received a copy of the book from the publisher through Netgalley.com. All opinions expressed are my own.
Definitely a good read and once again I had pegged the wrong person as the killer. I sincerely hope that Karen Rose Smith is working on the next installment because I'm not sure how long I can wait without going nuts!
