Chloe is a meter maid that has the heart and soul (and more important, THE BRAINS) to be a police detective. A heroine who is classy, smart and, I would say adorable but I like my nose where it is on my face. Starting off with a Christmas parade in the small town of Hope Falls, a not-so-suspicious death triggers the instincts of Chloe Boston that something just isn't quite right. A wonderful cozy mystery with a pint-size detective that is the most original gumshoe that I have seen in a long time. I received this e-book for a birthday present and am now getting the whole series. I am reading the first book in the series now and am hooked.

A special treat in this book is recipes for Christmas goodies. It adds another layer of flavor to the book. Chloe loves to bake and her food seems to play an important part in this series

For those of you who have been hesitant about getting an E-book reader, jump into it. This is the first book I read on my new device and I can tell you that this is a breakthrough for me. Easy to read, you can bookmark and you can adjust the font size. And this book series is wonderful for E-book. Just the right length without being so long that your fingers get tired from swiping the pages.

Hope Falls is a wonderful mountain town that is what everyone would think of as the perfect small town...if you don't concentrate too much on the murders....

I LOVED THIS BOOK IT WAS FUN TO READ AND I AM PLEASED WITH THE WAY THE CHARACTERS ARE EVOLVING. I ENJOY THE ROMANCE BETWEEN CHLOE AND ALEX. CHLOE'S SIXTH SENSE COMES IN VERY HANDY WHEN IT COMES TO GETTING JUSTICE.

How in the world does she put up with Althea? Oh, my gosh! I enjoyed this offering in the series, mostly because of the humour attached to trying to tolerate Althea and her doofus fiance, Gordon. What a hoot! Hats off to the author of this series. Never a dull moment when Chloe is involved.

This one seemed very short (4th in the series). However, it was still enjoyable. I hope the next one is a little beefier!

I have enjoyed these books so far, but I am very annoyed that this book is much shorter than even the last one. All of the books in this series have been quite short, but this one was over before it seemed to even get started. Much of what was in it was recapping the series. There was a new murder and then an incredibly fast wrap up. I was surprised to find that at less that 80% of the way through the book the actually book was over and the rest was a preview of another series.

In this book, Chloe Boston must work quickly to solve a murder in the delightful small town of Hope Falls, where she is a meter maid and unofficial detective. She wants to solve it before her cousin's wedding and before Christmas. Her boyfriend, Alex, is in town for Christmas. Her father is going to run for mayor. Chloe has a lot on her plate in this fourth book of the series, and she handles it all wonderfully. The descriptions of the snow, the town, the Christmas decorations and the Christmas parade are charming. Pick up this entire series; it will keep you warm, cozy, entertained, and engaged throughout. I'm ready for Book 5 and hope it is released soon.

actually all the characters are well described and enjoyable. The stories are believable and it's such a fast read. The only complaint I have is that throughout the 3 books, there's repeating phrases that you'd think just a little more time spent writing/thinking could have created another way to repeat information. It's only noticed if you read all 3; but, isn't that what authors and publishers want? for readers to read em all? well then, don't skimp on the creativity by borrowing material from one book to the next.

I love the series because I am in just the mood for an easy escape. But three things have begun to bother me a lot - perhaps too much for me to read another in the series.

One is too much repetition from one book to the next, almost as if the author is cutting and pasting rather than writing anew. Who needed to be faced with a second version of cousin Althea's Organic Vegetable poem, even with the slight revisions? It felt like I was having filler foisted upon me rather than writing, as if I were paying twice for one thing.

The second thing that is really bothering me more and more is the sloppy proofreading. It seems to have been proofed, if at all, by a mechanical program that doesn't recognize the need for articles and doesn't notice word inversions.

And the third and final of my complaints is that the author doesn't seem to know that sometimes it is correct to write "Alex and I" as in "Alex and I went to the parade" and sometimes it is correct to write "Alex and me" as in "Blue gave Alex and me a soft 'Woof!' The error -- writing "I" where "me" is called for -- is called false gentility and occurs in both our spoken and written language more and more frequently and will no doubt someday not too long from now become acceptable by default -- but it hasn't yet and it really grates on my mind's ear when I read it. I think this is another instance of the need for professional proofreading.

These complaints aside,I do like Chloe Boston, her love for her animal companions, her way of describing her intellectual processes, and her loyalty to both her obnoxious and her charming relatives. I do wonder, however, if, in a town as small as Hope Falls, there are enough citizens to continue killing them -- whether by accident or by murder -- and still maintain a sufficient population to be able to afford a meter maid.
