Highly entertaining debut novel that falls into a noir/bizarro/slacker genre that proves that a book doesn't have to have a lot of action to be good. The murder itself is really just a way for us to get inside Ethan's head but once we're inside we see that he's just like everyone else except for that whole murder thing and he occasionally gets his ass kicked for speaking his mind.
Murder And Other Distractions is the kind of book that you read and you become absorbed in the story. If you're looking for something that will make you ponder the universe or maybe give you the meaning of life this isn't the novel for you. This book is about a variety of things and I think everyone who reads it will draw their own conclusions as to what it was about.
