Each of these stories ushers us into a new, fully imagined world, as redolent of elsewhere as the soil samples in the Museum of the Americas, and Miller evokes those elsewheres with sharp observation and colloquial ease. A tour of the motley assemblage...might be just the right gateway to the author's museum of American misfits, oddities and dreams. With this collection, he opens his cabinet of curiosities to us. --Margot Harrison, Seven Days
Words to note: Gary Lee Miller's name is going to be recognized in American letters for a very long time. His Museum of the Americas kept me up and reading happily until I woke up with it splayed on my neck. --Stacey Peters, The Dooryard
From the Inside Flap
"Vivid and arresting; the stories have a gentle fabulism that grows darker as Miller plumbs the human psyche." -- Steve Almond

I took the book with me on a recent business trip to read on the plane. On the outbound flight while reading one story my throat strained from holding back a cry so deep that I knew if I let it out I would cause a pathetic scene on board the plane so I just tensed up to hold it in. My throat muscles hurt all day. Then later, on the flight back, I read a different story. I sat there in row 24 seat D chuckling with shaking shoulders as I turned the pages. I moved through the story with the biggest grin on my face just soaking in and marinating in the delight of the tale. Thank you, Mr. Miller for a wonderful and moving read.
