Pros: Low profile heatsinks. They barely stick up above the sticks and actually work quite well in keeping the ram cool. I have a Cooler Master V10 installed in my system, and there is more than enough clearance for the RAM to the point you do not have to take out the mobo and remove the V10 to install or remove sticks! This is a great plus! Great construction, the heatsinks do not feel like they are about to fall off. Great performance once you OC to stock speeds in bios. Cas latency of 6 is super fast, especially for the $199.99 price tag. Other manufacturers that have RAM with a Cas latency of 6 are closer to $250-300 for 3x2GB so you are getting a great deal for amazing performance. RAM runs very cool, especially with the V10 setup but also runs great without any active cooling.
Cons: As with many DDR3 1600 RAM sticks you need to fiddle with the bios settings to get them to stock speeds since they will be tied to the CPU multiplier and run at less than the advertised speed. This can be daunting if you don't know what you're doing but there are many guides out there to overclocking RAM. Just be careful because if you intend on OCing your CPU you can overvolt the RAM and screw up your entire system. That wouldn't be fun!
Overall amazing RAM with amazing stock speeds for a budget price. Outperforms Corsair/Crucial/Kingston at the same price level, by far. Highly recommended for gamers on a budget but still want high end performance. Just be warned you may or may not need to OC your RAM to get it up to stock speeds!
I installed this memory in a system I built on an ASUS P6-X58D-E motherboard with an i7-930 processor. Initially, the memory was running at a slower clock speed with looser timings. However, a quick change in the BIOS to select the memory's XMP profile worked perfectly. CPUID reports 6-8-6-24 timing at 1.65 volts. Haven't tried to OC it, but I've read of others doing so with success and tighter timing. (UPDATE: I've tightened the timing up to 6-8-6-20, and still no errors in Memtest+.)
The REDLINE series is just about top of the line for Mushkin, standing above their BLACKLINE and shoulder to shoulder with their new RIDGELINE. Having had good experiences with Mushkin memory in the past, I expect this set will last a good long time. Having read a lot of reviews written by disappointed consumers of memory from other manufacturers (like G.Skill, OCZ, and Corsair), Mushkin is going to continue be my first choice in the future. I highly recommend their products.
