If you want a durable, cheap(price), mic stand. GET THIS!
Although I assume it was probably an oversight on my part, I figure it's worth mentioning, this is the stand only, no clip. Nonetheless, I was very pleased with this purchase.
The third one has a defective portion on top where the mic holder screws onto the threaded portion of the stand. This part is not welded, but is "peened" onto the shaft. This was not done correctly during the manufacturing process which results in this part spinning around the interior of the shaft and prevents proper tightening of the mic holder to the stand. Basically, you can't position the microphone and have it stay in one place.
Anyway, these are very inexpensive and I assume you are going to get a bad one every so often. The ones that are properly constructed work great. The other makes a pretty good door stop.
That said, I'm not using it as a mic stand. Instead, I attached a page holder. See photos. Used Stagg MUS-ARM 1 Attacheable Small Music Stand (I'm calling this a page holder, there is no stand with it). It is a direct fit. No parts needed, no modifications needed, no tools needed. Simply assemble the stand, remove the lower arm of the page holder and screw what's left onto the top of the mic stand.
This is a really, really nice combination. Heavy duty from top to bottom. Nicely balanced. If you use single sheets of music like me, you'll still need a big bag clip to hold the music in place but that's a failing of the page holder, it seems to have been designed to hold a stiffly splined book of music as opposed to single pages or spiral bound music books. These clips work perfectly:

Really nice heavy stand. Simple and effective. Kind of like a hammer--they are very handy but hard to improve on. Read morePublished 2 months ago by pcsnake
The top part went loose and eventually the metal at the bottom of the stand ripped off of the base. Not durable.Published 3 months ago by Liam
